I go with more cardio (treadmills, ellipticals) when I need to lose some extra pounds fast. I normally work out for 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training. If I need to lose some extra pounds fast, I'll switch to 60 minutes of cardio and then tack on 15 min or so of strength training just to keep the toning up.

If you're not into going to the gym, try aerobic videos, jogging, fast walking (fast enough to make it almost hard to talk), anytning that gets your heart pumping and keeps it pumping for at least 30 minutes.

Go to a fitness center and hire a trainer... not necessarily the cheapest, but the fastest!
