Cut out the candy and soda, things with a lot of glucose, hydrogenated oils, etc. Make sure you get proteins so you can build muscle instead of being stick thin. Get your fruits, veggies, all your food pyramid type stuff.

Cut out sugar (the hardest and most addictive legal substance) and limit your white starches to keep them at a minimum. You will be moody and tired for a little while, but it works fairly quickly. I would still eat half a fruit at least a day, and lots of veggies. Protien is a filler that will keep you full the longest.

find your blood type and eat appropriate foods that oyur body can break down more readily.

O's can eat pretty much anything but have hard time with veggies.

A's are white meat & veggie eaters, and suffer on red meat.

Contact your local hospital or medical center. They likely have a dietitian on staff who can help for free. If it costs money, ask your doctor for a referral.

Diet modification is also useful In order to lose weight in a healthy fashion, and to increase the likelihood that you'll keep it off, you only want to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. Eating smaller meals more often is helpful, many people say 5 small meals is the best way to boost your metabolism.

In order to lose wight you have to maintain a negative calorie balance. Try looking up websites to calculate your REE/TEE and figure out how many calories you need per day. But make sure you factor in exercise and diet. I started to follow the crossfit workout program (crossfit.com) and it has helped me a ton, giving me different workouts daily and having someone tell me what to do.
