What physical activity should I partake in to relax?!

Question: I want to find something I can do at home to help myself calm and relax, and also maybe break a little sweat? i want to tone up, too, but I'm not very physical or flexable.
What should I do?

Swimming is pretty relaxing and great for the whole body.

If you're not near a pool I suggest yoga.

yoga

are you thinking what i am thinking?...

intense Yoga!

Yoga or pilates will be great for you! It is relaxing as well as mild cardio, high tone and will build your flexibility.

Enjoy!

You could start off by just walking, eventually working your way up to running.

yoga and tai chi for beginners, I'm starting next semester :)

Yoga or Palates (however you spell it) are amasing to do at home or at a gym. They are very relaxing and tone up all your muscles =]

hope its what your looking for!

Try yoga.

Well to relax, yoga is really good , as it helps you stay calm and beats stress. You can also do different breathing tecniques which help you if you want to chill out. Going for a walk or jog is great too. Its best to go out early in the morning or in the evening as this is when the air is less polluted and therefore better for you. Not only do you get fresh air, you can also relax and take in your surroundings. Its also good if you want to tone up or lose weight etc.

Yoga and meditation are still the best way to relax. Don't worry about flexibility or your athletic ability. It has nothing to do with competition. Buy a beginner yoga dvd and try it at home. You will love it. Meditation is essential for you.

Yoga is the best.

The first step on the way to a more physically healthy you is to go for a walk.
- you're out the door
- you're moving, which gets the cardio-vascular system going
- you're burning calories
- you get a fresh perspective on things
- you can actually keep this up, it is not something that will cause pain and discomfort [especially if you are out of shape or not used to exerting yourself very much - if you start out overly enthusiastic, you'll tear a muscle, sprain an ankle or something similar and you'll be out for a few weeks after which you will have made yourself comfortable with sitting down and doing nothing].

Start out slow, walk a block, the idea is to get moving. Later you can walk longer and farther, when you feel ready do to so.

When you start to get the feeling you're up to exerting yourself more you could look into dancing. Dancing is an innocent way of getting yourself moving and it sure does burn calories.

It all depends on what your goal is, but when you're just starting out and you don't have the experience to do more: start walking and take up dancing [you can dance by yourself if you have nobody [yet] to dance with].

Physical exercise leads to a feeling of well-being. Don't be afraid of getting tired, every body really wants to get some exercise. It will make you feel better, your mood will improve.

Have fun doing it, explore what gives you most joy. It's supposed to be something you can do on your own, don't try to turn it into SEAL BUD/S training. That's really not necessary.

Good luck!

yoga, pilates, long walks, or a smothe bikeride near a park or something.

I am no expert, for me doing serval different types , helps me depending on what solution i am looking for. for there are many kinds of ways to relax..
Here are just a few,, 1-Mindfullness, = being in the moment.
2- meditate by sitting in the yoga possition, or just on a comfortable chair, sitting upright . but not like a statue all tense. relax .Make sure that for the next 10 min you will not be disturbed by phone. TV or other distractions..sit, close your eyes and start from your head and say to yourself to relax, ex: empty your mind and try to think of oooo, then concentrate by relaxing your shoulders, then arms , hands, and work your way down your whole body..( sometimes , for me before i get to my waist , i am so relaxed, & almost asleep) anyway. Guaranteed you will feel regenerated by this technique.
3- Find on the net or read a book on meditation , especially on Mindfullness. 4- Use guided meditation , 5- chakra meditation , wwwyoutube you will find all sorts of things.

Good Luck ,
