Is gatorade good for you?!

Question: Yes, in moderation.

Answers: Yes, in moderation.

Propel is better.
It gives you all the gains of gatorade but will less sugar.

only for the athlete that exercises at a high level of intensity. Gatorade is not needed by the average sedentary individual, it's just more sugars ingested that their bodies do not need.

yes, but only when you are exercising. if you constantly drink it when you aren't, then the stuff that they use for flavoring crystallizes in your liver. icky, huh?

no, it contains fructose and sucrose syrup. it is bad for you without a doubt. the powder kind contains dextrose which is good to take after you workout though.

Gatorade is an energy drink, I'm pretty sure Gatorade is good for you for energy, etc.

I recommend Vitamin Water, because it's Vitamins+Water, and there are many mouth-bursting flavors to choose from.
(Kiwi Strawberry, Orange, and many more)

Gatorade is fine when used for its intended purpose: Rehydrating athletes during long training sessions or competitions.

Athletic performance declines with even a small amount of dehydration, so keeping up fluid levels can be critical to success.

Yes, there is a lot of sugar in it. Its there because that specific concentration of sugars has been tested and proved to be optimum for speeding transfer of water throught the intestinal wall. Better than water, better than any other higher or lower concentration.

The sodium and potassium replace electrolytes lost through sweat. Electrolytes are necessary for proper firing of muscles. Lose enough of them, you can end up with cramps, or even heart failure in extreme cases. Anyone who has had their quads sieze up during a marathon or long course triathlon has an acute understanding of this concept.

That said, its worthless as a general purpose beverage.

As for Propel, that's just a beverage concocted by the marketing department. Other than taste, it has no purpose. You might as well drink water.
