Now seriously, does anyone believe drinking water fills you up?!

Question: Water is absorbed through your stomach very quickly. It does not sit there taking up room. It does not make you less hungry. Sometimes people confuse hunger for thirst - fair enough, in that case drink away. But does anyone actually find that a couple of glasses of water takes away hunger pangs?? I wish that worked for me :)

Water alone does not take hunger pangs away for me, it makes me feel bloated, but oddly empty and still hungry.

At work so i dont snack i buy fibresure ( its like a powder you can get at supermarkets , chemists etc) and mix a spoonfull in with a glass of water and that does the trick for me, it also stops bloating and hunger pangs

ha exactly, i just answered a question for a kid who said he's trying to not eat as much so he drinks a lot of water. They need an episode on myth busters so people stop thinking taht water fills you up.

No, it does nothing to satifsy my hunger.

well i drink A LOT of water, and it does fill you up in a little while... well if you drink 5 bottles, your so full :)

it makes you feel full but never will it replace food.

sometimes hunger is confused by being thirsty , so drinking water lets u forget about food for a while , not a long time

lol well i drink alot of tea and i can tell you i must go to the toilet about 7 times in a day because i always need to go but thats a good thing isnt it? lol

I think it just gives you the feeling that you're bloated. Or it probably sends signals to your brain that you're full (like in the Hunger and Satiety center). But after urinating all the excess, you'd feel hungry again. And I dunno, for me, in the middle of a class and I get hunger pangs, I drink water and I feel full again. Haha. Maybe it depends on the person :) Maybe.

Water does not fill you up if you are dehydrated, even the slightest bit. If you drink your 8, 8 ounce glasses and then you drink more its going to take longer for you to absorb the water, and it can give you the feeling of "full" . But it doesn not take the hunger away. It may feel like that for a little while but its all that water that your kidneys are trying to put somewhere.

Just water doesn't work for me...I want food. food, FOOD !!

I thinks its more of a drinking tons of water makes you feel bloated thing. That is how it makes you feel full.

hi well im a model and cnt eat much food. so i av bout 3 to 4 letres of water a day and it fills u up cos it bloats you, which means you wont eat food!!
also its known that people confuss hunger with thirst...

just drink more water

Interesting question.
I did hear that hunger is possibly dehydration, so if you're hungry you should drink water and if your hunger doesn't go away then you are actually hungry.. not so sure about that.
What I do know for sure is that drinking water right before or during your meal keeps you full longer.

not tht much as food lol! but u have to drink loads to not get hungry but when u feel hungry then just drink water

it does for me...
and when its left my stomach i just drink more
= )

Listen here miss know it all! You go and prepare yourself for a colonoscopy this week and THEN tell us all about how water doesn't take away hunger.

your right water doesn't take away hunger pangs but it is the people that eat too much that need to have a glass of water instead of a burger, sometimes we do think we're hungry but its just our bodies telling us we need a drink

doesn't fill you up . but dulls the appetite if used 20 minuites be4 eating
