Answers: I'm 14. Weigh 170. Height is 5'6.

No man, you should becom proficient with bodyweight exercise before you start lifting. Here are some good exercises from the neck down. For neck wrestlers bridge, and isometric resitence exercises, also hang head over bed and move neck up and down, frontwards , backwards and side to side. For shoulders start with pike press, (look up exercises instruction ,at crossfit.com and other places, also for a manual get never gymless, it is the best around, you can see Ross Enamait on youtube, hes for real. The rest are fakers.) Than move to handstand pushups from floor and eventually full range from sturdy surfaces. You can also make cheap lateral raise dumbells from milkjugs filled with sand and water.Fill them all the way full and you have tough lateral raises. For chest, pushups, clse grip, wide, divbomber, elevated, decline, in between cinder blocks, clap pushups, weighted, one armed, one arm divebombers, ets Tjhis covers every strength quality, endurance(pushup) max strength(weigted or one armed) and explosive(clap pushups) For upper back pullups and body rows, once agan chnage grips and add weight, also pull explosively sometimes, work to clap pullups for explosive pulling power, one arm pullups are a long way off so don't say that calisthenics dont build strength. Also climbing rope. For core thers a bunch, basically I am just showing you the potential for bodyweight before you start lifting. It is important to learn proper technique to lift and your young so I recomend to start working on body weigtjh strength first. Plus its impressive to the girls to do one arm pushups and 30 pullups and stuff.I am not going to list every body weight exercise I know, my sdvice isto save up 25 bucks plus $4.80 s&h and get Ross Enmait's Never Gymless. His strength and conditioning workouts (if applied) will make you a beast. You got to put in the work but Ross will show you how and what to do and give you the tools to create your own workouts for your specific goals.By the way Ross is 170 and deadlifts 495 , does one arm clapping pushups and one arm chinups.

No, it's not bad for you to lift weights. You are plenty old enough. Just make sure you are not overworking and are giving your muscles plenty rest. I had a gym teacher that old me rest is just as important to building muscle as work is.

no, weightlifting doesn't stunt your growth, this is a myth.

learn the form right first, don't touch machines. the power rack and bench are your friends, the barbell is your lover.

squat, bench, deadlift. never neglect the muscles you don't see in the mirror. if you want to get a bigger upper body, squats and deadlifts help.
