Exercise Help Please!?!

Question: Please read entire thing:

I am looking for exercise that I can do, but I have the following limitations:

*I live in a particularly bad area of town, so walking outside is not an option.
*I do not own a treadmill, nor can I afford one.
*I get bored somewhat easily, so something that I can "change-up" every so often would help.

I am going to get in shape by summer, but I need some ideas to get me going in the right direction.

Any ideas?

get some good exercise tapes/dvds, maybe even rent them if available, and try some different things - yoga, aerobics, weight training...all in your house. dvds are great because you can change them up and choose a different one each day... a lot of dvds have tons of variety.
stretching is also very important.
and you can do super-easy stuff like crunches and squats at home - look this kind of info up on a health website.
jump rope is very good exercise, as is stair climbing as it burns a lot of calories.
even dancing is great exercise...put on your favourite cd or music video channel

elliptical

On Demand - through cable....I enjoy the belly dancing sometimes...I also love the yoga.

Blockbuster rents exercise videos.

Ask other girlfriends to borrow or swap their videos.

Circuit training at home - jump rope, run up and down the stairs, push ups in the kitchen, etc...

Eat fruits everyday, I prefer you should also drink 4 bottles a day and run about 30 min a day. And buy an excercise ball that you can use and search up some routines on youtube it really helps a lot. Good luck. You'll be really fit by the end of summer.

crunches are good, lifting cheap weights, buy a cardio workout video for like 10 dollars and watch it every day!! GOOD LUCK =)

- excerise ball for toning
- jumping jacks for cardio
- jump rope for cardio
- hand weights for toning
- work out videos
- dancing
- drink lots of water

get a set of dumbbells, and do complexes of exercises like:

1 set
10 pushups
10 dumbell rows
10 dumbell deadlifts
10 dumbell squats
10 dumbell shoulder press
10 dumbell rows

rest 90 seconds

do it again.

This combined resistance training with high intensity interval cardio. Burns fat AND builds muscle. 20 mins is probably all you need. you will be gasping for air and your muscles will burn. this is a MUCH more effective way to burn fat than a treadmill. and also more fun. you can switch up the exercises or even add sprints or jumps to it, just as long as you work the whole body every "complex"

Your local library might have some fitness DVDs or video tapes that you can borrow. Try a few and find one or two you enjoy.

Your local library also has magazines. Self, Glamour, Prevention, and Cosmo all have fitness sections with ideas. Write these down and do the exercises at home.

There are also fitness programs on cable television. Check your local listings for these. Record them and do them when you have time. They are usually on very early in the morning, between 5 and 8 a.m.

Try the "Walk away the pounds" video by Leslie Sansone....works great. She has a 1-4 mile walk.

if you have stairs inside your house, or even in the building (if it's an apt) assuming it's safe, you can do running up to the and come back down, run the top, come back down and so on...or if you don't have that many steps you can do "the step test" where you go up with one foot on the first step, up one more step with the other foot (both feet not on the same step), then both feet together on the second step (lower foot joining upper foot), then down one step with the foot that didn't move previously, and then the other foot down to the ground, and then both feet meet the ground. you can make the tune "up, 2, 3, down, 2, 3, up, 2, 3, down, 2, 3...." (up, up, together, down, down, together)

Wall Push-Ups
Stand facing a wall with your feet about 1 to 2 feet back from it.
Place your hands on the wall just outside shoulder-width apart.
Bending only at the elbows, lower yourself forward towards the wall then push yourself away from it.
Keep your body stiff and straight during the movement.

Standing Rows
These are done from a standing position.
Loop a towel around a vertical pole or column or another fixed object so that the ends of the towel are pointing towards you and the towel is wrapped around the far side of the pole.
Have your feet close up to the pole and lean back gripping on the ends of the towel and keeping your body stiff and straight.
Row yourself up with both arms.
Keep your back arched and row with your back.

I've given a site where there are more exercises that can be done but something that you should remember is to ask a friend to exercise with you because it can make exercise more enjoyable and work better.
