Sometimes it's hard to avoid muscle soreness, but a few things might help reduce it. Be sure to cool down and stretch thoroughly and sufficiently after exercise. Have a hot bath or shower if you think you might be expecially sore as this helps expedite recovery to sore muscles. Believe it or not, a light workout on the affected muscles, in this case your thighs, can really help by increasing blood flow to the muscles, speeding nutrients and waste to and from the muscles. Try to avoid using pain killers as much as possible as some negative side effects are correlated with regular and frequent pain killer usage. And most of all, be sure you're eating enough to allow your body material to heal and recover.

hot bath

The best thing is rest. Make sure that you're stretching properly before you work out. :]

Actually it may sound kind of strange to you, but the best thing to do is stretch and workout again. After working out, get you some Epson salt and put in a tub of hot water and just relax in the tub for a while.

arnica (a homeopathic remedy) works amazingly for over worked muscles, sprains, strains. i put in on my thighs after hours of dance class, and the pain goes away in like 20 seconds, seriously.
