How to brake my soda addiction; Sprite.. Help!!!?!

Question: For years, wait no, my life I have had an addiction to soft drinks. First it was coke, then caffeine got to me and gave me headaches and didn't make me feel well. Now I drink sprite and sierra mist only! I drink probably 4-5 cans a day!!! That's a lot and it's making me gain weight that I don't need, I'm trying to loose it but the sprite is an addiction i can't break! let me run it down for you..

Sprite is my favorite thing to drink, I drink it all the time with ever meal and snack. I tried to stop the habbit before I quit drinking for 4 days and then I worried that if I ever wanted to drink it again it would taste funny and I wouldn't like it so I keep drinking it now. It's getting too costly on my health and my wallet please help! +10 points if you help me stop it!!!!!!!

Just stop. Find the will power. What else do you think you should do, go to Sprite Anonymous? Soda is horrible for your health. It contains phosphorus, which leaches calcium from your body. It contains huge amounts of sugar. Refined sugar cane is horrible for your health. It makes you fat, weakens your immune system, is bad for your metabolism, rots your teeth, along with a host of other maladies. If you think diet soda may be a better alternative, remember this: The main ingredient in diet soda's sweetener is aspartame. It was rejected by the FDA eight times because it was seen as dangerous. It is a petroleum derived chemical. It turns to formaldehyde when heated (and when it's in your body). This stuff is poison. My advice is to just flat out quit, or at least dramatically lower your consumption. It is probably hard because your body may be addicted to sugar. You are going to feel awful for a little while while your body adjusts. It will pass. Drink water! Your body will thank you for it in the long run.

Switch to Sprite Zero, and slowly drop the number of cans you drink a day. Maybe add another flavored drink such as water mixed with a Crystal Light packet or Kool Aid made with Splenda. Good luck!!

Just don't buy it at the store, get water or juice or something instead. You could have it once in awhile when you go out to eat or something but the best way to stop the craving is to not have it in your house. Whenever I have something that I really like such as cupcakes I am always craving them, but when I don't have any I don't even think of it. The best thing you could do is to not buy it at all.

i know its hard.
i gave up soda my first day of cross country. (aug. 1, still clean)
the coach made all the girls stop, its bad for us.
boys were not advised to drink it, but i wouldn't affect them like the girls.
you have to look at it like a challenge, you want to stop so do it! eveytime you see a soda know that the choice you made is for the better and walk away knowing you have a better life than that!
carry some water with you all the time, invest in a water filter, get rid of the bad, fill a Nalgean bottel and keep it with you.
know your on to a healthy life style.

Get yourself some bottled water (spring water only, not tap water) and plenty of lemons and limes.

Chill the water to refrigerator temperature, and squeeze a half lemon plus a half lime into a glass of that water. Honestly, it is refreshing, tastes good, adds some nutrients to your diet, and will probably cost you less money in the long run than sodas.

My friend had the same problem a few years ago, so i suggested that he switch on of his daily soft drinks with tonic water, and that seemed to help alot, after about 4 weeks he could go days without soft drink.

Also a good goal isn't to stop drinking it all together, just to get down to 1 sprite a day, because 1 sprite a day isn't going to be all that bad for you, but if your exercising, have it after your exercise, that way your body can use it to the fullest. This will also help with the health.

I must also mention that exercise is very important with getting over any sort of addiction, it releases chemicals in the brain that make you happy, similar to those released by the addiction.

I hope this was a help to you, if you have any more question, feel free to email me

I started to drink unsweet iced tea for about 2 weeks. soon after, everything else just tasted too sweet!!! even OJ, i had to water down everything. Also don't buy it. if its not around you can't drink it. My wife is addicted to diet soda. I love soda, but don't drink it much because i never have any in the house.
