Weight Loss help?? Need MORE motivations?!

Question: Well, i have had a problem with weight for a couple of years now. I am only 14, and so it is really really tough being overweight. I am 5"7 and weight 230-240.. it always changes.

Well, i have tried many different things, my parents are pretty into healthy living now.. and they haev kinda helped. Now, i have tried weight watchers.. and it works, my sis lost like 60 lbs on it.. and so i know what works and i know how it works.

I am actually really educated on all of this stuff.. i Know anything really.. Except how to keep myself motivated. I mean, i will eat healthy for a day, and then the next, i try, but then end up pigging out. I know this is unhealthy but its really hard to control.

I was wondering if there are any tips that will help keep my motivations up and that will help me to last through alll the temptaions. COULD YALL TELL ME SOME OF THOSE???

thanks in advance...

PS. I have skinny brothers who love junk. Getting rid of all the junk food is not an option.

When you get off track and eat a lot of junk, don't get too down on yourself. Just get back on track the very next meal. And don't have "forbidden" foods. If you allow yourself to have a cookie or some chocolate every day, you won't feel deprived.

I highly recommend you attend the Weight Watchers meetings, and even have a doctor check you out to make sure you're okay medically.

get a couple pictures of skinny girls and whenever you feel like pigging out, look at them and remind yourself why you should 'step away from the fritos.' : D hope this helps, good luck!

that first answer was kind of mean but exercise more and portion out your foods and drink lots of water and have sting cheese, frutis, vegetables and nuts to snack on

The bottom line is that you have to want it more than you want the food. Find a realistic goal (such as wanting to be under 200 pounds by the time school starts again in the fall) and imagine how wonderful you'll feel when you achieve it. Before you eat something you shouldn't ask yourself if it is worth the consequences. You'll find that it never is.

start exercising immediately if you are not. it will boost your mood and it will help with your diet because if you work your butt off, you will not want to eat junk because it would nullify your workout.

as for strictly the diet, find some healthy snacks to eat when you get hungry that isn't junk such as fruit (for sweets), low fat/low sodium crackers, vegetables, and nuts.

some methods of staying motivated is to write a list of reasons you want to lose weight, and post it where you will see it (but that others will not if you are insecure about it) and see it often. by keeping your motives in mind, you will have the extra nudge in the right direction and it will be easier to stick to your diet.

find a friend or family member to join you. you can even turn it into a competition to see who can drop the most weight (in a healthy fashion of course), this will force you to be accountable for your actions. another way of using accountability is to use a nutritional log to keep track of how much you are eating so you can actually see where all of your calories and such are coming from.

make sure you stay well hydrated, lots of times when you think you are hungry, you are really just dehydrated and craving water.

hope this helps...good luck!

Ah, I have the same problem every day. We are alike in our agony. =D

Here's what I think:

*I have a sexy bathing suit that's tight on me; and I remind myself that I want to look hotter in it for summer.
*I grab all my fat and think I reallllyyyy don't want to add to it.
*Think higher of yourself! You're too good to put that crap in your body!
*Don't give up what you want most for what you want at the moment.
*I want to be lighter so I can run faster in basketball!
*I NEED to lose weight because I am overweight and therefore unhealthy and at risk for many health problems.
*I will feel so proud of myself for passing up that junk.
*If I keep putting off my weight loss, it will never happen.
*I love this one: The greasy fry, it cannot lie, it's truth is written on your thigh. hehe.

Those are my best motivations. Everyone's different, so they may not help you at all, idk. =]

You said your parents are pretty much eating healthy? Well then why do your brothers have junk food? Request that it be OUTLAWED! =D Your brothers should be eating healthy too... even though they're skinny, eating that stuff doesn't exactly do wonders for your body.

I was exactly where you are at 14! I was 5'5", and 230 lbs! But then I convinced myself i needed to lose weight no matter what. Now I'm down to 170. =] 60 down, 50-ish to go.
IT IS POSSIBLE! You just need to keep up a positive attitude!

Good luck hon. I'm rooting for you!

Think about how great your muscles will look once you're in shape. That's how I stay motivated.
