Ahhh! Diet soda is suddenly terrible for you??!

Question: so I have been drinking diet A&W like crazzyyyy over the last few weeks to fill me up. (2-4 cans A DAY!) and I have actually gained weght - 5 lbs! but given, I have slipped up a little on dieting, too.

Does diet soda make you gain weight?
Will I loose weight if I completely stop drinking diet sodas?
Does coffee make you gain?
If i drink only water, how many ilbs will i loose in a week?

Diet soda contains artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners can fool your brain into thinking you are hungrier than you are, which leads you to eat more. Also, the sodium in sodas tends to make you bloat; you likely have a water-weight gain (which is still bad, it means your fat cells are bloated!). If you stop drinking the diet sodas, the five pounds will probably fall right off.

i dont think diet soda will make you gain weight, there isn't any sugar or anything in it, but who knows. I think if you stick with just water, at least at FIRST, you won't lose weight cause i think you are filled up with water so your weight is like "water weight" or something so i think you actually gain weight in the beginning, but i could be wrong. not sure, but if you do decide to only drink water, just go easy on it don't drink like five bottles a day or something.

i have heard that you can actually crave more sugar and simple carbs by drinking "diet" drinks, because it tastes sweet, it can cause a sweet tooth. Also, the sodium content could be causing you to retain water. Try drinking 1 can of pop and then the equivalent of water before the next pop.

Don't drink soda at all. Even diet because it doesn't really help and it is prooven to cause cancer. I am not sure about coffee though. There is no set weight loss for drinking water but you should drink eight 8oz glasses a day but just drinking water isn't going to make you loose weight. You also need diet and exercise along with that.

Any kind of pop is not good for you. Especially if you drink two to four cans a day--doesn't matter if it's "diet".

You might lose weight if you stop. You might not. It might have nothing to do with weight for you--there are people who drink pop all the time and don't gain weight. It's an individual thing. Keep in mind you can't just attribute your weight to the pop, there could be other weight-gaining foods in your diet or the lack of exercise.

If you cut out the pop and drink water on a regular basis, you will definitely be healtiher!
