Am i at an unhealthy weight? ive been called anorexic before...?!


Question: Im 15yr old female, im very active im 5' 7" and 120 lbs. Is this a healthy weight/size? i've always been really slim. Is that because its all muscle? -because muscle is denser than fat it takes up less space but weights more... i would like to keep a healthy weight during my sports season (year round) so i dont become underweight which can be dangerous for young year round athletes like me. I have also been called anorexic becuase of my thin figure, is that because im too skinny/ underweight/ or unhealthy?...helpful answers are great thanx

people have always criticized my weight, i'm 16 and 5'7 and a half, and 122 pounds. the rule of thumb for women is that you should be 100 pounds at 5 feet, plus 5 pounds for every inch after that. by that rule, we are both pretty underwieght, but it doesn't matter when youre not done growing yet. as long as you feel healthy and strong, and have a good relationship with food you don't need to worry about it.

You aren't anorexic if you actually eat. Some people who I know eat a lot and they are really skinny and look anorexic, it is just the way your body is. Just because you are skinny doesn't mean you are anorexic.

Some people just have a smaller bone structure which makes them appear underweight when in fact they are healthy for their bone structure. If you're eating enough and getting all of the nutrients you need, then you're probably fine how you are. Eat a little more if you're worried.

So long as you're eating until you are satisfied, roughly at least 3-5 small meals a day, or the equivalent at that, don't worry. You likely have a fast metabolism and can't help it. Later in life it will slow down and you'll be more proportionate, so it's probably not a permanent deal. Enjoy it while you can.

You're slim, but I don't think you're unhealthy. Some people are naturally smaller than others. Just make sure you eat right.

It sounds like you have a very high metabolism. Signs of anorexia are people who think they are fat even when they weigh 100 lbs. You don't mention your diet or your eating habits. Are you worried because someone called you anorexic? I would advise you to see your doctor or a nutritionist. It sounds to me as though your weight is fine

I wouldn't listen to people who call you anorexic. If you are eating and playing sports, then you should be fine. If you are starving yourself, that is another matter.
Everyone has a different metabolism. Some people put on fat, others don't. You might be one of the latter. Don't worry about it! If you are eating, and healthy, and energetic, don't worry about what other people are saying.
