Now, i am losing my motivation!!!! I REALLLY DONT WANT TO EAT JUNK!!!?!

Question: Well, i should start off by saying that i am very overweight and have been overweight for a while. I wasnt born with it but in the past two years i have put on a ton of weight. I am 5"7 and weight 230. I dont look that huge, just because i have muscle, but i deffiently need to lose weight. Because that is just too huge for looks and health.

So, i have always been good for a while and hten i splurge and eat a whole ton of junk. So my weight stays the same or goes up> Now i am really relaly trying to do well.

Well, right now, i came home form schoool. My mom made cookes,i have easter candy, we have soda and junk food. I am wanting this so bad. I know that i need to be in control of my emotions but it is fairly hard.

I was jsut looking for some tips. How do i make it to where i no longer crave these fooods.. and what will help me to make it all the way with this diet.???

FIRST TIP: Remind yourself that YOU are in charge. You have a choice -- you can bow down and worship the food, or you can be strong and take charge of your life. The truth is you're a lot stronger than you think. You have the power to drop those pounds you want to get rid of, and all you have to do is learn to exercise it. Losing weight takes time and effort, but you're worth it, right? Isn't being the slim and trim individual you want to be more important to you than bingeing on junk food?

SECOND TIP: DO NOT completely deprive yourself of all that bad-for-you stuff that you really like to eat. There are two very effective ways of dealing with the temptation: (1) Make a rule that you have to "earn" those treats. For example, if you want some of your Mom's cookies, require yourself to walk for an hour or do 30 minutes of cardio BEFORE you have any -- and when you do, you're only allowed to have a few of them. That goes back to the first tip about taking control of your life. (2) Allow yourself half a day a week where you're allowed to eat or drink whatever you want, as long as you don't gorge yourself. That'll make it easier for you to stick to an eating plan that requires you to eat healthy most of the time. Bodybuilders and professional athletes do this, and their physiques don't suffer for it.

THIRD TIP: Make PERMANENT changes in your eating and exercise habits. The reason most diets fail is because the people on them have this idea that they'll do what they know they should do for a while. What happens is they go right back to the bad habits that made them overweight in the first place. If you get into the habit of exercising on a regular basis and making healthy food choices (with the occasional treat), you'll drop the pounds and be slim and trim for life.

BE STRONG. You can do it!

The more sugar you eat, the more you crave. I don't know why it works that way. Go out and exercise instead of eating. Take some water and an apple with you. Think about how bad you want to lose weight. It takes a lot of will power. Have some popcorn (without butter). Allow yourself one piece of candy or one cookie after you work out. Think about how long you will have to work out to make up for a pile of cookies. Good luck. I know it is hard to resist sweets, but just force yourself. Go walk so you don't have to hear those cookies calling to you.

Your already overweight

Go for a walk, go to the store and browse the produce section, look at *healthy* recipes online, read a good book on weight loss (I like "The Best Life Diet" by Bob Greene). You are doing great! And it IS okay to splurge a little bit once in awhile:)

whenever you feel like anything sweet, drink a banana and chug down some water till you feel better. Bananas have sugar and water might help you.

go do something with both sides of your brain until the desire goes away.... say music or art and math or singing. Trick your brain. it works.
