A good six pack and an awesome shape for the chest.?!


Question: well im 17 years old.. i wanna work on my abs and get my chest into proper shape and alos wanna taller than i already am(175 cm, present). going to the gym would stop growth at this age is what i heard ..so any exercises that i can do at home to attain the above.

The first time I joined the gym, my oldest son was like 13 or 14 and he wanted to join also and work out with me...they recommended that he wait till he was 16 or 17 years old to prevent what you are talking about. At your age, you should be fine going to a gym or having a regular workout regime at home. If you want, you can go to any gym for the first time for free and tell them what it is that you want to achieve and they will be glad to set up a program for you to obtain the results that you want to achieve..not everyone needs the exact same workout. Most gyms will give you a trainer that will go around to each workout station with you for the first week or so to make sure that you are doing each one correctly..that is more important than anything..you could work out for a year or more but if you are not doing the exercises correctly it could do you more harm than good and you would be wasting your time. I would definitely go to the gym and talk to a professional to get off to the right start. I hope this helps some...good luck!

I'll be honest mate you should be able to start going to the gym and lifting weights (not too heavy though). If you were 14/15 Id say wait a couple of years but at 17 you arent going to grow much more if at all.

Start doing crunches, leg raises and good old fashioned push-ups

Well mate, i'm 16 and i've been doing weights for a.. little bit of time, i'm 6"5 which is like 195 cm's or something =/ so i'm not too worried about stunting my growth, at your age it isn't such a massive problem, probably won't happen, but for abs, do crunches (sit ups) the variations, like doing a sit up and touching your left arm to your right knee, go down and then up, right arm to left knee, build up the 'good six pack' by having some decent core muscle underneath the existing muscle, you'll have to research 'core strength activities' but for chest, do push ups, push ups and more push ups, do them slowly and touch your nose to the ground basically, then you can get into plyometrics such as 'clap push ups' which are just push up and off the ground, clap and catch yourself, this will build up some seriously nice definition if you can dedicate yourself to this stuff, also tricep dips are good as they can make you keep your chest a bit flexed, depending on how you do them, plus it will give a decent shape to your arms if done properly and enough.
