How and Why do people become obsessed with exercising?!

Question: I am SO NOT.... I'm trying to find ways to become disciplined and enjoy exercising regularly. I thought well some people are obsessed with it, so perhaps I could take some of their reasoning behind it and use it to get myself motivated. I've tried to get some exercise buddies..... but very few people I know exercise regularly.

The hardest part is getting started... seriously... once you're in the groove and you see how good you feel from it that's when the addiction kicks in.

I do yoga 2-4x a week and cardio every other day with light weight lifting... Now if I dont work out I feel a huge difference in my mood!

Join a club or team that is just average at a specific sport. It will motivate you to do better and be more competitive with the other people. That is how I get excited about running with my track team.

Develop anorexia... that's what helped me..

But no.. really don't do that. I wish I wasn't obsessed about exercises. It controls my life. Like right I have a fever and I still worked out some how, some way.. but I feel guility that I didn't workout more... not very cool.

... but I do like running because it relaxes me. I listen to music and do it outside. Maybe if you found something you liked.. like swimming, hiking... etc.

don't obsess over it.. it sound like you want to or something??

but.. people obsess b/c they are so scared and they want to work off everything they ate that day.. it basically the same thing as food disorder- belmia- in my opinion.. its sad to see that so many celebrities are like that now

You may be partially correct with your analysis...

Disciplined is one thing and obsessed is another, the latter of the two being an unhealthy mental status...

You do not need buddies to exorcise either but as you move along in life, you will find some who CHOOSE to enjoy it.

I found if I alter my workouts I could perform daily routines with out taking lots of time and still making Goals.

The only things I did daily was swimming, sit ups and push ups. All other forms were every other day, M, W, F.

obsessed with it is no good. i experienced it, and it was...annoying.
what motivated me to exercise is confident-boosting, better shape to be seen in the mirror, long-term health maintenance, a fear of cardiovaskular diseases, and the quickest: mood-bosting after exercise even when pms-ing... if you find that you agree with things that i mentioned, you can make them your motivations...!
but when you became obsessed, you can't see the real result and the more you exercise, you became more and more unsatisfied~
in my case, i prefer no one seeing me while i exercise, but you can join a gym, maybe? there you can find an exercise buddy who gets you motivated ^^

Man, I wish I had that problem.

Other than that, I'd suggest to find a sport you really like. Some people (like me) can't stand a gym. It's not that it's horrid in there, or something, I just have so many other things to do with my time that are so much better!

If there's a sport you like, then get into it. If the sport requires a lot more energy and strength, then get to the gym with the intent on being able to do your sport when you are buff and ready - and set a goal, like... I am going to go surfing at the end of the month, because I will look great in a swimsuit by then, and I will have the strength to handle the board! Could be something like riding horses, roller skating, bike riding, skiing... anything that needs a bit of muscle power - set a date for the activity that is far enough in the future that you have time to beef up, but not so far that you'd forget that you had it coming. It will encourage you to go to the gym and get some strength... and then once you get to do that fun favorite physical activity, you'll remember what it was like when you could do it all the time... and perhaps you'll keep doing that all the time, too!
