Anything you do that increases burning calories will help you loose weight if you have the correct diet. As long as you aren't lifting to look like Mr. Universe (which requires your protein intake to be huge) lifting weights will help you loose weight. I would recommend, though, in addition to weights is you alternate with cardio every other workout.

Sure dude, when you lift, you sweat like all hell. Or atleast I hope you are; so therefore, you can lose weight. The fat you have on your body gets trimmed down into toned muscle, which can make you lose weight also.

Yes! But you can also gain weight, but it's good weight because it's muscle. A square inch of muscle weighs more than a square inch of fat. So depending on how much cardio, dieting and other activities you are doing, you may gain weight. However, you will be more trim and your clothes will fit better or seem too big.

yes, but not just by free weights- they'll only work your arms. you need to probably go to the gym and consult one of the staff members and work out a plan with cardio and weight training. in my personal opinion- running is the best! lol
