When working out to burn fat do I lift less weight and more reps?????!

If you have been lifting low weight and more reps for a while, it is time to change it up. That type of lifting is generally considered an beginner level, and is usee more for endurance. it works the slow twitch fibres in your muscles, which do not grow.

Try lifting 8- 12 reps (to failure) for 4-6 sets of each exercise. You should choose a weight that, after8-12 reps, you CANNOT lift it again with good form. This might take a little bit of trial and error. Lifting at this intermidiate level, you are you using your fast twitch muscle fibres, which DO grow. You will not gain mass, but you will see an improvement in strength and muscle tone

Whatever you do, try to incorporate some cardio in there, too, but don't over do it. Cardio sessions that go on longer than 45 minutes can actually start to use your muscles for energy, thus taering away at it rather than building it up.

The greatest thing about weighttraining for weight loss, is that, unlike cardio, which burns calories while you are doing it then pretty much stops when you finish, your body actually continues to burn calories for another hour or so after weight training!

To really blast the fat, try supersetting exercises together, with little or no time between sets. I also like to have my clients skip rope, do jumping jacks, etc, between sets, to keep their heart rates up during the entire workout.

Smaller weights, but more reps.

EVERY exercise WILL burn fat but the most effective one in weight lifting is when you do alot of reps with small amounts of weight !!
