Any gym going people that go in the AM before work? How's it working for you!

Question: I never have time to go to the gym so I was going to try doing it before work.

My gym opens at 6:00 and I have to be at work at 8:00 so I think time wise- I'll be OK doing an hour workout. I figure 3 days a weekdays and 1 weekend workout.
My only fear is will I be exhusted everyday or will going to they gym give me that second wind?
And on top of that I take evening college classes so I have class 6:00-9:00 twice a week.
What do you think? Can I do it?

I am in a wedding an my dress was preordered but all this late night studing is adding on the pounds! I got to shake them off fast!!

I've been going to the gym at 5am for the last couple years. Honestly, I was dead tired the first week. I found myself getting really sleepy early, etc. But as the second week approached, I did get a bit more energy and the best thing was, tired or not, I felt good about myself. You feel accomplished and a bit proud of yourself. Not to mention, you don't have to dread working out all day. You already got it over with. Another pro, the gym is less crowded in the mornings, which is the main reason I started going in the AM. Whenever I went to the gym at night, it was full of perfect young model-esque perfect bodies. I felt a lot more comfortable in the morning.

Either way, you can do it. Just will power. Good luck!!!! =) Don't forget to eat something!

This year, I began having dance team practice at 5.30 am .. I hated it at first, but then it really started giving me energy for the day. So now that we are on a break from it, I still get up and go work out at 6ish before my classes. As long as you can get to bed early -- I think it'll work out great. Plus not as many people are there early in morning, so you can get any machines you want!

You can do it, and you'll have much more energy during the day!

Good luck!

I mix up my workout sessions between AM and PM and I have found that after my PM sessions I am more energized. Make sure that you are eating pretty healthy (2000 calories, 1200-1500 if you are trying to lose weight) and make sure you drink at least 64 oz of water. I haven't noticed any exhaustion, but I do try to make sure I get adequate rest the night before AM workouts. I'm usually there for an hour also and I do a mix of cadio and strength training. I think you will be able to to do it though. I like that you are giving your body a rest by taking at least two days off. Some people tend to over train and that can have reverse effects. Just schedule it out and tweak it if necessary. Hope this helps!

I did this when I was in college: I had crew practice at 6am then class at 8am. I have never been more tired! I eventually quit crew. I'm sure if I would have stuck with it I would be OK, but I didn't. You should try it. Another option is go to the gym after work on the days you don't have class and on weekends.

I would LOVE to be going in the morning.. I just can't get out of bed before 6am (which is what I have to do for work). Once my job moves, I plan on doing it.. It does help with energy, and like another poster said, you should be okay as long as you can get to bed at a decent time the night before. Good luck and stay on track.. It's hard to get the routine going again once you lose it!
