What does lean muscle mass mean?!

Question: I bought Lean Shake from GNC to help me lose weight. I am currenlty 112 pounds and want to lose weight (i have a pretty doughy stomach) and gain muscle. So when the label says it supports lean muscle mass what exactly does that mean?

2 pac has it right. If you work out you may not lose weight. Muscle is heavier than fat. You may build muscle, lose inches, but be heavier because of the muscle being heavier than fat. Don't go by your weight. Go by your measurements.

The BMI goes out the window with an athletic person. An athletic person will be heavier because of the muscles he/she has in place of the fat.

Lean muscle mass is your muscle, in general. It supports and builds on to your muscle by giving it protein. Every time you work out you have micro-tears inside your muscle. Protein re-builds the muscle tears which makes your muscle in return, grow stronger. So basically, the shake supports your muscles by rebuilding. I suggest drinking it after you worked out, or before if you need energy.

means it has protein in it probably. "lean" muscle is an advertising gimmick.

That means that it can help you increase the amount of muscle you have on your body. If you lose 5 pounds of fat and gain 5 pounds of muscle, you will stay the same weight. If you lose 5 cubic inches of fat and gain 5 cubic inches of muscle, you will be a little heavier. For your goal, it is best not to worry about what the scale says.
