When you gain weight, does it make you feel out of place in the gym?!

Question: I used to be slim, but things happened, and I gained weight. Now I'm starting to work out again, but I feel so out of place in the gym now. Anyone else been thru this?

I own the gym so if I can feel out of place anyone can. I simply wear baggier clothes when I gain (which, typically is every winter), and I work out when we are least busy for about a week of 45 min. of cardio daily.

It will only take a week or so for me to feel confident again. Ive found its really a self projected uneasiness. Because we are uncomfortable with the way we look, we assume everyone else is taking note. Bottom line, most people are there to focus on themselves. No one is looking at you whispering and if they are, screw em! At least your doing something about it!
Also if you can, get a partner to work out with. Safety in numbers right? A friend, co-worker, another lone person in the gym.
Good luck, and do not let a little uneasiness stop you in your pursuit of health.

nt really

I know exactly how you feel. I went on medication, I gained weight, I went off, I gained weight, I went to work, I gained weight. My self esteem was so low because of my weight, I felt ugly. Then I decided that I just had to accept it for now, until I feel good enough to start to excerise again. I use to be very skinny, too skinny, sickly, then it evened out and now I am overweight. I would feel out of place at the gym, but you go girl, I am proud of you!
