What exactly is cardio?!

Question: Hehe, I'm clueless. :P

Answers: Hehe, I'm clueless. :P

It's exercise that increases your heart rate to up to about 80% of your maximum heart rate, and is sustainable for 20 minutes or so. It makes your heart and lungs stronger if done frequently. It is called cardio to distinguish it from weight training, which involves weight lifting that may raise your heart rate briefly, but then it goes down. And it's also different from sprinting, which raises your heart rate a great deal, to 90% or more of its maximum capacity, but which is unsustainable for a long period of time.

Prefix meaning heart.

Cardio is the medical term used to reference the heart. From Greek kardia: heart.

Also used in reference to exercises and/or equipment intended for cardiovascular fitness and endurance training (aerobic exercise). A common usage of the term is "to do cardio", which means to engage in running or other endurance training for a set period of time.

Examples of cardio are: walking, running, swimming, biking, aerobic dance, step aerobics, kick-boxing, rowing and jumping rope. Vary your cardio workout regimen with different speeds, inclines, distances and heights. Hope I helped.
