a proper way to lose weight is with no diet at all. It requires a lifestyle change that will be maintained forever. Yes, forever.

I would recommend finding out what kind of healthy foods YOU like, and find a cardiovascular activity you enjoy. If you try to make yourself eat healthy foods that you can't stand, you will get off track in no time. There are many great websites with information as far as good foods to eat for lean protein, iron, fiber, calcium, etc... try WomensHealth.com

As far as actually going about losing your weight, I would start by doing a BMI calculator. Go to: http://www.self.com/fitness/body/calcula...
your BMI right now (using the info you gave) is 25.6, which is slightly over the healthy weight range. Your goal of 115 is pretty accurate to put you in a healty weight range, which is a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9. But don't fret---even losing 5 lbs, and weighing 135, puts you at a BMI of 24.7, within your healthy weight range. So set realistic goals, and once you reach them, set new ones.

After checking your BMI, you need to determine how to obtain your goal weight. You don't want to be too drastic, so I would recommend starting with a goal of 130, which is still 10lbs. To drop 10 lbs, to 130, you need to eat 1625 calories a day and maintain a slightly active lifestyle.

Please do not take the caloric needs and eat 16 100 calorie packs of ritz crackers :) hehe Ok, but in all seriousness, you need to make sure these 1625 calories are provided by the most beneficial, healthy foods and nutrients as possible. Eating not only the right amount of calories, but the right KIND of calories, will help you reach your goals faster!! So do your research ex) self.com, womenshealth.com, and watch what you eat.

As far as working out goes, be reasonable. 45 mins of Cardiovascular activity 5x a week mixed with some weight training should send you on the right track. Make sure you are sweating and exerting a significant amount of energy for atleast 30 mins of your cardio routine. **It is also extremely important to lift weights. Lifting weights and gaining muscle mass will aid in weight loss as well. At first you may notice no change in your weight as you will be adding muscle mass to your body but keep in mind it is LEAN MUSSCLE MASS and you will LOOK better. Also, the muscle mass in your body burns more calories at a resting rate than fat! So even after your workout, if you lift weights, your body will burn MORE calories, which in turn leads to MORE weightloss.

Finally, I write all of this to you from someone who is 22, and bounced around with weight within 5-10 lbs for a few years. The only way I have learned to maintain a healthy weight is by living a healthy lifestyle. Do not expect results right away, but know that in a few months you will look and feel a lot better :)

Hope that all helped, and GOOD LUCK! :)

thats a good idea
dont eat any wheat either
or drink soda
just drink water or some juice
and if your one of those bad teens that drinks alcohol dont
its empty calories
and if you can try to go vegatarian or vegan

visit www.mypyramid.gov this site has lots of helpful inforamtion for just eating healthy and maintaining healthy eating habits for a lifetime. The key is to get in lots of fruits and vegetables, make your carbs complex carbs with lots of fiber and to get in enough exercise.

Try to make sure you eat lots of fruit and veg, protein (eg fish, eggs) and carbohydrates (rice, wholemeal bread) and not much junk food and sweets.
Stick to natural, healthy stuff and excersize regularly and you really can't go wrong.

First of all, diets don't work. If you want to lose and maintain a healthy weight its going to take a lot of work and the willingness to change your reactions to food and what you like to eat.

People will tell you to cut down on carbs, drink a lot of water and maybe eat a lot of fruit. But this isn't a life style nor is any of it healthy.

The fastest way to lose weight is to not eat junk food, prepare all your meals yourself or assist the person who does the food prep at home. Also 30 minutes of good strong exercise a day. Just exercising will have amazing effects on your body. Once you have increased you muscle mass and you have a lot less instances of "boredom" hunger. Your body naturally looses more weight because muscle burns fat constantly.

So don't worry too much about what goes in your mouth, try doing something with it.

I'm on a low carb diet now. It consists of eating proteins (mostly in meats) and healthy vegetables. Its been really successful for me--I've lost 20lbs in 2 months.

Here is an article that tells you more. It should answer your questions.
