How do I convince myself I'm not fat?!

Question: I've lost about 20lbs in 2 months. Did it the healthy way - exercise, better diet, resistance training. Didn't starve myself or cut out treats completely.

But here's the thing. I'm 118lbs now with quite a bit of muscle. I wear a size 6 US (8 Australian), occasionally a 4 top. My healthy weight range says I could lose a few more pounds and be OK. But I feel really, really fat. I look in the mirror and see fat. Maybe because I'm a bit out of proportion, my hips are bigger than the rest of me. I'm fit and healthy - so how do I tell myself I'm OK? I still see the fat person I was at the beginning of the year although logically I know that can't be true.

Hips are sexy, not fat. If you can see your naked butt and it looks like craters on the moon, yes, you're fat. Otherwise, VERY doubtful unless you're only about 2 and a half to 3 feet tall. Anything over 4 feet 6 inches would be pretty, not fat.

To convince yourself that you're not fat, gain about 50 or 60 pounds and compare it to what you are now, you'd be saying "I wish I were slim like I used to be". Thinking about that will probably make a big difference in itself. I would say that you're probably more muscular than fat, and everyone needs a little fat on them, not obese, just a little.

Compare yourself to someone who you think isn't fat but not real skinny either and you'll know where you stand for sure, maybe have a friend take a picture of the two of you side by side might help also.

Janey:
You're not fat at all, you're beautiful! Stop the nonsense!

Listen to that logic! We all see little flaws when we look in the mirror, and amplify them in our minds. Don't listen! Sounds like you're in very good shape. And muscle weighs more than fat, so you probably have even less fat then your realize.

118 is pretty thin. if you are of average height it's very thin.
girls are supposed to have hips.

Stand there and compliment yourself, and lie to yourself if you have to, do it every day, and eventually you wont have to lie anymore, you ll start to believe it.
If we hear something often enough we believe it.
Accept peoples comments even the smallest ones, learn to say thank you, or that's a nice thing to say.
Be positive with every thought you have and eventually you wont have to try so hard to do it,as it will become second nature.
And congrats on loosing the weight.
