From an Evolutionary Standpoint, why are the foods that taste the best, the wors!


Question: Why do we crave sugars if they are not good for us? Isn't evolution about becoming smarter, healthier, and more fit to survive? If so, why is it that fried foods taste so good, yet are so bad for our health?

Because sugar and fat are highly concentrated nutrition. If you can't eat every day, then when you can eat you had better get as many calories as you can.

It is only in very recent times that we have had so much food that having it available all the time is a problem.

We've never had the chance to choose what to eat until now. Before this, if you could catch it, you'd better eat it.
