Hey man, those protein shakes are not the way to go.

You can lift weights do other exercises, but the bottom line is, you need to keep your heart rate up for an extended time. It may take a while to be able to go further and longer, but overall once you start a program never give up, even on lapse days, just start again the next day.

A few quick facts: 3500 calories in 1 pound of fat. You need to burn these calories off by not eating as much, and excersising EVERY day. A man of your size burns about 2800 calories in a day. Try to eat only 2000, then burn 500 by walking or jogging a day. Try to keep your heart rate up for 30 minutes. If you do this, you'll lose 3-4 pounds a week.

Good luck. I am 6'1 also, and I was once 285. I am now 215 and falling. If you don't mind spending $9 a month, try www.myfooddiary.com. It works really good for me.

I ont know much about dieting and stuff... but let me just say.... protein shakes are STUPID. did you know that the average american gets 206% the protein they actually need?!?!?!!?

Well at that stature your BMI is 35, so this is a good time to shed pounds.

Do you have a favorite recreational sport? If so, you could partake in a light dose of that.

As for diets, don't "diet". Just cut your portions and limit pop intake.

For protein shakes? They don't have any side effects and provide a good source of protein, which builds muscle and will reduce fat.

A combination of these things is needed though. Well done on having the motivation to lose the weight!

Honey, is that you? You're like the exact size and shape as my hubby. I wish I could help you, but we haven't figured it out yet. He doesn't eat that much or too much junk, and he works out like 3 to 5 days a week, but yet he stays the same or even gains a little. I personally think he has some sort of a metabolism problem. Right now, we're watching Paul McKenna I Can Make You Thin on TLC Sunday nights and seeing if this guy can help. Good luck! It's hard on my hubby; he has a bad self image bc of his extra weight, which like yours seems to be all in his belly and abdomen area. When he's in clothes, nobody would know he's so big. Poor guy! I love him to death regardless, and I am a petite, cute lady, so don't despair. Protein shakes couldn't hurt.
