Eh?!? What do you think?!

Question: OK I am very overweight. I am 5'1 and 160 lbs. I want to be 125-130. I dont have a time limit, though. Anyways, I have started eating healthy and doing weight training and toning exercises and crunches and squats (for my booty). So, do you think that I will see results even though I am fat? Do I also have to do cardio or will it work with just weight training? The problem is I have no access to treadmills and what not and no time for running b/c I have 2 small children, work full time, and go to school, I can't run in the morning b/c I can't leave the house with the kids in it! So is there any other type of cardio I can do or do I even need cardio at all?

Jumping rope might NOT be the best option. It puts a lot of stress on your joints. If you are truly overweight, your ankles and knees are probably already under stress any time you are on your feet. Try swimming. You can take your kids with you, no sitter needed. The impact on your joints is minimal, but you will get cardiovascular and resistance-type exercise. You don't have to do laps, either. Just being active in water is good.

If you have a one 45-60 minute resistance training session, your metabolic rate is raised considerably for eight hours. When you do the recommended 20 minutes of cardio, it is raised a bit more, but only for about 3 or 4 hours. And muscle is a living tissue that needs energy (calories) at rest. Lots of them. So the more muscle you have, the more energy your body will burn throughout the day, even if you are sitting in class.

I highly recommend getting up an extra 30 minutes early and doing some basic stretching. Stretching can be cardo. Try Sun Salutations or a similar sequence. Just be careful to not push to hard. If you start your day off this way, you will have more energy, which it sounds like you could use.
Also, by having protein in the morning, especially an egg or two, your hunger will be curbed for longer. Meaning that you can wait to eat until you get home from work or school, and not stop at a vending machine or fast food place.

But you need to remember to eat. Keep eating 3 meals a day, or more. Just portion your meals out differently. When you stop eating for more than normal, your body goes into survival mode and stops using calories for energy. It starts using your muscle tissue. As I said earlier, muscle tissue is a great ally when you are trying to lose weight. Try to cut down (if you haven't already) on refined sugars and other processed foods. It's also cheaper to cook some kind of grain and serve steamed or stir-fried veggies over it. Add tofu or beans for protein if you are of the vegetarian persuasion. Especially if you eat meat, keep in mind that extra protein turns to fat in your body, not muscle. So make sure that you aren't eating more protein than your body can use. The FDA has some pretty good guidelines.

Drink juice cut by 25-50% with plain water. It will help encourage hydration, while keeping your blood sugar at a more stable rate. If you are overweight, it puts you at risk for diabetes, so this is very important. Keep sugar-free hard candy with you if you get a hankering for something tasty when it's not convenient for you to get something healthy.

Most of all, don't worry too much about losing weight, a lot of people are stress eaters, and your heart doesn't need the extra strain. But you are inspiring to have so many things to contend with and be trying to better yourself at the same time. Good luck.

Just keep it up and you will be fine!

runnign is the best way to lose weight

go to the gym

you should just stop eating, you don't need the extra calories, you have fat to burn so you don't need food, wait till you body burns off what you already have before you eat again

just stick with what your doing, and your not too over weight

jump rope is good cardio.

you are beautiful just the way you are. but a little toning here and there doesnt hurt...just keep on doing what youre doing. :)

well if you only eat 2200 calories every week you will lose two pounds

It sounds like you are getting plenty of exercise already and what could help you most is a diet change.

A well balanced nutritional program is the foundation for building a healthy body.

I have found a family of nutritional products that I know gives me the best chance for longevity and health. Email me if you would like particulars.

Living a long and healthy life.

in order to lose weight faster, your should do some cardio exercises. buy your self a treadmill. weight training, cadio exercise, plus dieting is equals to good result.

Seems like you are doing everything right just stick to it. Also stop calling yourself fat.

There are cardio workouts like stepping. Also, dancing is a fun way to cardio with out having a lot of equipment. Even though your not doing a steady cardio workout right now, I think you will see results. Eating healthy and weight training will definately start showing, but if you do a cardio workout with it, you will get results faster and you'll be happier with them.

Wow...I'm 5'2 and I weigh 95-106......anyways.....you should get a treadmill, or some kind of excersice machiene....you really arent that bad, telling from your pic. Most of it could be muscel. But its great what you are doing now....keep on it! And best of luck to you.

stop drinking pop or cola
just water or 100% juice
youll be surprised

I lost a lot of weight fairly easy, I stopped drinking pop/juice (thats pure sugar), and started drinking things like tea, and stuff that will help boost your metabolism, also eat lots of small meals during the day instead of big ones. Don't eat anything less than 2 hours before you sleep, and do your workout in the morning after you wake up to keep your metabolism going strong throughout the day, you'll lose weight and its pretty easy.

jumping jacks and jogging in place will do. also look after ur diet by cutting sweets and fast food and eating fruits and vegetables, but do no give up bread and carbs.

Well doing the weight training and toning exercises with the healthy eating on top of that should help a bit. Maybe you could get some friends to watch your kids while you find a gym to work out at and maybe run a bit. The thing is that everyones bodies are different so you may need to try other things. If what you are doing right now isn't working, you could go see your doctor and ask questions about it.

I add cardio for weight loss for sure.

Be creative .... pick up a video and do some cardio (assume you can pry the kids tapes out of the vcr.

Need elevated heart and work out for 30 minutes or more. If you can't do the tapes .... grab your husband and go for some late night cardio 3-5 times a week. He will be happy, and you will get the benefit of better fitness and smiles.

good job, I love your dedications that is the first step.

work out alone is not enough you need also to watch what you eat, junk in, junk out.

check this program for free I tried and I lost 23lb , feel free to ask me ( http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/krisgeth... )

Weight training is one of the key elements to the success of your transformation. You will certainly burn off a lot of calories by following this program but you will also build a firmly toned physique that will continue to burn calories 24/7.

The muscle density created on this weight training program will also minimize any weight gain side effect once you have completed the challenge.

Cardiovascular exercise should be conducted at such a rate that the builds up a sweat but doesn't get out of breath. Train at an intensity that you would be able to talk to somebody without to much trouble. This is called "aerobic" exercise and is mainly burning body fat. When performing aerobic exercise, the bloodstream carries a high volume of oxygen to help transport fat through the body.

When training at a more intense level such as running and or high intensity weight training, this is what is called "anaerobic" exercise meaning that oxygen is not being utilized through the bloodstream, therefore not the most ideal scenario for fat burning. This is because the oxygen that is being absorbed is being used by involuntary muscles such as heart and lungs. The duration of your cardiovascular exercise should not exceed 20 minutes at the beginning of your program.

do it at home, run in place (watch tv) or up & down the stairs that's what I do. I lift small weights use the ab lounger, use my butt master & thighmaster. B he time I get home from work I'm tierd but I find time (you need to remember you are important too) & you need to keep it up so you can be around a long time for your kids. Make ajustments. Good Luck!

Jump rope.
DEFINITELY.
Ten minutes of vigorous jump roping is about the same as running an eight minute mile.

Good luck!

ive been running 2 miles a day and a little bit of wieght tranning and a little sauana action and ive seen extremely good results. you look hot in your picture im sure you'll look so bomb after your workout. just keep it up and dont give up if you have the energy to go everyday then do it because ive been doin it and it only took a week for me to see good results. keep up the good work and to answer your question yes do more cardio it will help a lot more then just wieght trainging you gotta burn the fat thats on top of your stomach and doing ab work is pointless unless you get rid of that fat. i mean do a little here and there but mainly cardio. good luck sweet cheeks

for the cardio part, you could always take your children on a hike or something? it would be fun and good exercise!

I think you should invest into buying a treadmill.3-4 times a week just keep your cardio up by just running for 30- 45 minutes and keep on eating healthy. I do a combination of weight training for toning and cardio for sweating out the fat.

though i am a younger male, i was overweight like that and found an amazing way of losing the weight:
BE VEGETARIAN. though i did it for moral reasons, it has completely helped me shed ALOT of weight that i used to have.
eating healthy is more important than working out & some people think it's the other way around.. but it's not. stick to your workout plan, but try concentrating on diet most.

as for the type of workout.. cardio is probably the best way to shed weight.. as you lose water weight and also fat. weights are good too since it builds muscle which burns fat.

but im telling you, going vegetarian, though it may be heard for some people, is the easiest/healthiest way to lose weight. you may think you can't got without meat, but if you think that it is because you don't want to lose the weight bad enough not to eat it. nutrition can be found in foods other than meat that you may be skipping over.

no problema, get up 30 min extra early, and dance some salsa or regge, that sould do the cardio and burn fat at the same time, that way you don't have to live the house to go runnig and live the kids alone.good luck

Cardio does help and you'll probably see results a little quicker with cardio.
Are your kids still small enough to sit in a stroller? You could go on jogs with them sitting in the stroller. Some fresh air is nice anyway. :)

Or, really, cardio is anything that gets your heart pumping.
So, you could try jump roping, jumping jacks, whatever works best for you.

There is a good tablet but doctors don't hand them out like smarties, I know this because my ex girlfriend was paranoid about here weight, and she was like a feather.

So she went to the doctor to try and get this medical cure , and basically the Doctor told her to take a run and jump. She asked why and he told her when they describe this tablet people , girls see a result eat more, but what these girls did not realize even tho told, was that you can only take them for three months, and because they thought they were clever eat more the stomach needs more food, so they eat more worse than the original problem then.

By the way you are doing the right thing . It is hard when your juggling a evty life style keep it up. ps you you look nice on avatar gl :)
