well i do koga which is a mixture of kickboxing and yoga. It really helps because every morning i would do exercise that are unusual in a way that help built all parts of my body including stretching,abs,and upper body. I feel it when i go to school, the exhaustion and the pain i get. Its actually good to feel that way because its a sign of doing the right exercise. if u wanna learn some of the moves i do for koga i'll gladly answer ur questions just feel free to email me hope i helped

Pushups are excellent. There's nothing wrong with them, so keep doing that and you'll be fine.

As far as dumbbell exercises, i like to pyramid free bench; and if you don't know what that is, i do 10 reps with 60 lb dumbbells in each hand, then 10 reps with 55, 10 with 50, 10 with 45...and so on until i can't lift the weights up anymore. Really tough exercise, but extremely beneficial.

train each muscle in the gym once a week for about 45 - 60 mins.. and do chinups on the bar a few times a week long with it at the gym....

lots of protein and good carbs, and vitamins help

If you can do push ups then you already have decent strength in your upper body, keep up this exercise.
Squats are the no.1 exercise for all round body strength, also lat pull downs and all pressing execises will help.
