Gained 5 lbs and lost 2% fat ??!

Question: Well I used to be 125 lbs around 30% body fat for a long time. I then gained a few pounds around 130 lbs. I started to exercise since 2 months ago of cardio and weight training (circuit training machines). Also eating healthier and about 1800 calories/day. I am now still 130 lbs and 28% body fat. Is that possible that I gained 5 lbs of muscles? or why is this gain doesn't 1 lb of muscle weighs the same as 1 lb of fat.

Yes, 1 lb of muscle and 1 lb of fat are the same weight - 1 lb! It is very possible that you gained 5 lbs of muscle. Actually, you probably gained more, because you replaced the fat you had and gained some muscle on top of that. The good news is that muscle burns calories just by existing (obviously fat does not) so the more muscle you have, the more fat you will continue to burn. It compounds - it's great! So I say way to go, and very good to reduce your body fat. Rock on!

Muscle weighs more than fat.

muscle is heavier.

Yes, one pound of muscle is the same as one pound of fat, however the one pound of muscle takes up less space. So, you can gain weight but have less body fat. If you stay on course, you will eventually lose weight.

Yes, you could have gained muscle and lost fat. Your measurements should have gotten smaller.

MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT,you will get thinner but pick on some weight from muscle.
