I have no weekend self-control when it comes to food!?!

Question: During the weekdays and schooldays, I'm practically anorexic. I don't eat breakfast, often don't each lunch, go to the gym twice a week, keep hydrated and it makes me feel good that I'm ingesting so few calories.

But as soon as Friday hits, something washes over me, and I sort of wake up in the middle of a food craze and realize I've just eaten twenty thin mints, two devil dogs, a brownie and several glasses of sugary apple juice. what the heck?!

i take pride in my self control. any school day i am awesome at maintaining myself, and i never give into temptation. i don't get why i feel the need to binge as soon as friday hits. saturday i usually gain a little self control, then lose it again sunday around my soccer game.

i don't purge. i've never thrown up since the 7th grade, and it's been like 4 years so. yes. i don't intend to any to time soon. i just don't want you thinking i have that eating disorder or anything.

is there a psychological reason for this?

I think that you have self esteem and security issues. I dont understand why you go hungry during the week and only eat on weekends.

You need to discuss this diet of yours with your parents and seek professional advice - like go to a dietician. If you cannot comply with the diet assigned to you by a medical professional, then you need to go talk to a counsellor to make sure that you're not hurting yourself.

I dont mean that to put you down, I mean that out of concern.

One of the wonderful things about metabolism and life is that you can do a tremendous amount of eating and not gain an ounce of weight so long as you remain physically active.

Having a good solid diet at your age is important because of all the growing you're doing. The diet you have now will have an impact on you in 30, 40, 50, 60+ years from now.

You need to consume more fruit and veggies and you need to eat regularly. This is no joke, this is big deal stuff.

To return to my first sentance of this response, a lot of times people can develop this sort of quirky issue and not realise it. It's critically important to have people involved in your life and to be open to the support and concern of the people you involve yourself with. Sometimes people see things in us that we fail to see ourselves.

Ok if you dont eat for a certain amount of time....then eat your body will store it as fat because your body is saying "I might need this for later because I havent been eatting a lot lately."

So your doing worse not eatting breakfast or lunch. If you eat the same healthy amount of food a day you will have a healthy natural active body ^^

Oh yah you want to eat more before you workout !~ (not right before you workout xD)
You need calories to burn calories ^^

You are probably starved from not eating all week. Eat properly all week, then you will be able to continue a healthy diet on the weekends. Get rid of the junk food in the house and munch on healthy stuff.

Your body is starving for calories, so it is encouraging you to eat high calorie foods to make up for what it has been deprived during the week. Plus, its a lot of stress practicing all that "self-control." So you might be bingeing as a result of that stress too. Not to mention, there is less to focus on during the weekend, so you might be eating out of boredom or simply because you have the time.

You're better off eating a balanced diet every day. If it's the need for control that you feel, I'd suggest looking to the root of why you have that need so strongly.

WELL I THINK SO.i THINK YOUR STARVING YOURSELF BC ON THE DAYS REALLY NEED FOOD AND DO ALOT OF ENRGY NEEDING THINGS BUT YOU DONT HAVE ENERGY.eNERGY OR NOT YOUR BODY NEEDS FOOD AND IF IT DOESN'T GET IT WHEN IT REALLY NEEDS IT YOU WILL DIE.SO I THINK TAKING IN JUST ENOUGH FOOD TO KEEP ALIVE BUT YOUR BODY NEEDS MORE.SO MAYBE EAT MORE EVERYWHERE.nOW DONT GO WILD AND EAT EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME JUST EAT IT WHEN YOUR HUNGRY AND STOP BEING ANOREXIC.GL

oh gee ive tried not eating for a whole day but at around 8 o'clock pm i would also stuff myself with brownies and sugary stuff. i guess that happens because theres no food in the stomach and you start craving food that tastes great eating a lot of it.

first of all i think its psychological that people try starving themselves because in their mind they dont feel happy about the way that they look.

OMG me too!!!
i do the same exactly thng
i don't eat breakfast or launch on school days
i have no idea why i do it but as soon as it's like saturday morning i start with cereal and i eat every thing in the house lol
WHY?????
but i think it's b/c u re just sitting around the house n the only thing u can do is like eat
if u re at school u re like busy doing school things so u don't really pay attention to food but if u re around the house u re just like eating coz u don't really have anything better to do besides eating lol
so maybe that's why! :)

My opnion: you've trained yourself (conciously or otherwise) to be hungy/want sugar at certain times in your schedule. We all have a bit of Pavlov (sp?) Dog in us. We can be very habitual and learn to crave certain foods during certain hours, if we hear something, see a certain commercial, go to a certain event, etc.

Try keeping a food diary for a whole week, write down everything you eat Monday to Sunday. Do not change anything, but do write it down. Then the following week, afer reading it try to change your habits. Maybe do have breakfast, eat a bit more during the week. And/or on the weekend, have 10 cookes and not 20.

It's a start, good luck!

i know exactly how you feel.
I eat super healthy Mon.-Fri. and once Saturday comes i wanna eat up the buffet, but you have to change your way of thinking. You have to teach your mind that this is a way of life, not just a diet. Go get the book "Skinny Bi*ch". I promise it will change your life. It will help you understand the importance of eating all day, especially breakfast. It seems like you starve all week and once the weekend gets here your body wants to recuperate what you havent eaten all week and that's the worst thing you can do. B/c as someone else mentioned on here your training your body to store its fat b/c its in starvation mode. So if i were you i would eat breakfast, work out 4 times a week, and NEVER skip a meal. Drink a protein shake if you have to.

A big reason for that is being too hungry and/or difficient in nutrients. I'd guess that applies to you, since you eat once a day. You should eat more often. I eat just fruit for breakfast and recommend it for everyone. I eat 6 times a day(4 are fruit meals), and I'm very lean.
