Has anyone had trouble with their stomach after using sorbitol in their diet?!

Question: I have read somewhere that it can cause unheathy weight loss. Even in small doses it causes my belly to growl.

The others are right. Sorbitol can cause gastric upset and diarrhia. If used it should be used sparingly until you know how it affects you. Many sugar free candies and cookies contain it so be careful when eating those!

If I recall correctly, sorbitol can act as a laxative. So, yeah...if you chew a LOT of sugar-free gum, you'll be spending a lot of time in the bathroom...which could eventually lead to weight loss, sure.

some artificial sweeteners like sorbitol can cause gastrointestinal distress in people sensitive to them, especially sugar free candy, which can include them in very high doses. i don't think it leads to weight loss, necessarily. just alot of discomfort and trips to the restroom.
