The pill he is talking about is Xenical, It was the only diet pill that I was ever prepared to prescribe. as although it had side effects, mainly the diarrhoea he has told you about, it had no long term issues of addiction, unlike almost all the rest!

It is a help in weight loss, but you must remain on a low fat diet while taking it, this also helps weight loss. If you keep the fat in your diet below about 7% the bowel problem is minimal. Unfortunately it does not reduce appetite.

You need to be asking your GP these questions, as only he knows what pills he has prescribed.

i think u r being sold laxatives

were they xenical if they were you will definitely lose weight with them but if you eat too much fatty foods you will be on the loo a lot but not too extreme just give them a try youve nothing to lose only the pounds good luck

a friend at work tried these tablets, she couldnt get along with them. she said it made her want to pass wind and somtimes she wouldnt know if it was that or she needed to go to the toilet. She had an accident once and she has not used them since. She said they were not worth the aggravation of having to run to the toilet. Sorry do not know much more than that really but I remembered her talking about them recently.
good luck

1) Yes, they are usually very effective, although they can have side-effects.
2) You do need to have a low-fat (not a no-fat) diet, if they're the type that stop you absorbing fat. Otherwise they'll give you bad diarrhoea.
3) There are drugs that act as appetite suppressants, but they're not the same kind as the ones that stop you from absorbing fat. The ones you're being offered don't stop you feeling hungry.

But it might be a good idea to carry on dieting by itself. There's a risk with the drugs that you will gain weight again as soon as you stop taking them.
Well done for losing weight without help!

MY daughter tried these she did lose weight but that was through running to the loo!.

If you have to eat low-fat food while you take them why not do it without the pills?....At least there is less bathroom visits.

P.S As soon as my daughter came off them she put the weight back on!

I took those pills for a year. They do not decrease your appetite. They only work if you do (exercise and follow a low fat diet). They prevent your body from digesting fat so it can be absorbed into the bloodstream. When you have a BM you will see orange oil floating on top of the toilet water. On one occasion I messed my pants with a bright orange oily stain. Thankfully I was at home when it happened. There was no warning so I could not have stopped it or run to the bathroom in time. You do not need a doctor's RX. It is sold over the counter under the name Alli.
