Why are you only allowed to eat 2 eggs a week?!

Question: just one of these questions that pop up every so often that i don't know answer too.

Answers: just one of these questions that pop up every so often that i don't know answer too.

Eggs do contain a type of cholesterol found in many foods, called dietary cholesterol. Eggs, liver, kidneys and prawns are high in a dietary cholesterol than other foods.

But cholesterol we get from our food has much less effect on the level of cholesterol in our blood than the amount of saturated fat we eat, particularly from junk foods.

Recommendations vary, but 3 to 7 eggs per week is fine for a healthy person. In fact, most people don't need to limit the eggs they have, if they are eating a balanced diet (including plenty of fruit and vegetables). Eating a wide variety of foods to get all the nutrients you need. Variety is the most important part of eating a healthy diet.

Eggs are a good source of protein, iodine and vitamins such as D and B2. Poached or boiled eggs are a healthier choice than fried eggs, because you don't need to add fat during cooking. To make healthier scrambled egg, try to use skimmed or semi-skimmed milk, rather than whole milk. If you normally use butter, use a little low fat spread instead of some vegetable oil, such as sunflower oil.

So keep on enjoying eggs, they are so versatile.

i eat more eggs than that and im still alive....and not only that you eat them in all sorts of foods...custard, processed creams, and some none obvious foods that we wouldnt know about lol

who says you are only ALLOWED to eat 2 eggs a week. loads of people eat more and they are not dead.

is this on a ceratin diet you have not been clear.

Didnt know the government had banned these too!

The yolk is high in cholesterol apparantly.

Me, i have two eggs every morning and my cholesterol level is fine

the eggs yolk gives high cholestriol. the whites are fine though.

try not to pass the limit of two or three eggs. .

i was young and i have three sisters, my mom boiled like 6 eggs for us. none of my sisters ate theirs. and when i came home, i was starving since i had lunch 3rd period. so the only thing i found to eat was eggs. x.x yeahh, i ate most of them. and this was more then just one day lol. i went to check up and they sed i have a really high cholestriol now :[. i didnt know the eggs yolk gave high cholestriol.. i was only like 10.

Maybe you saw that somewhere. I am not aware of anyone who says that. Two eggs a day is a more reasonable suggestion. Cholesterol is the culprit here, but there are varying studies, as always, and Omega 3s (which eggs contain) conteract cholesterol.

Didn't know they were banned now as well, what happens if you eat more, do you get fined !

that is way outdated! that is just a myth about eggs... back in the 80's nad early 90's people blamed cholestrol from eggs.. but now, they know, u get omerga 3 from eggs, B VITAMINs and good fats, and some protien... i have 1 - 2 eggs per day then some egg whites.. and it is working out great for me..

I wish people would get their information correct before giving their answer.... At first they were telling us to go to work on an egg, then later we were told that eggs were bad for us because the yolk of the egg was high in cholesterol. What they didn't say that the white of the egg was high in Lecithin. Lecithin counteracts the cholesterol so it balanced out the high cholesterol..... Now they are saying that the bad cholesterol is not of the LDL bad type but the HDL good type. So the overall answer is eggs are good for you. I have eaten 9 to 12 each week now for years as I class them as natural none tampered food... I hope that answers your question..
