Ate loads of calories...?!

Question: How can I tell how many calories I need daily to maintain my weight? I know to find out, I should change my calorie intake daily and see if I gain/lose weight. But should I do this by weighing myself, measuring myself or just by looking in the mirror? I'm really confused because I have tried searching for BMR but each time it is different. I am 16, 5'4 and 101lbs and I exercise for 90mins 2 times a week and also walk quite a bit too (3hrs a week). I used to have 1500 calories a day and I didn't lose or gain, then I started having 1200 and I didn't lose or gain either. Today, I have had WAY too much and am getting freaked out.

I'm trying not to count calories at the moment but I have had around 1800 today.

So basically, I have 2 questions.
1. How many calories should I be getting daily or how can I find out?

2. Is 1800 way to much for someone my age/height/weight?

1800 is about right for someone yourage, and will be untill you are 20 ish.

At your age, your BMR is at 1800 at least, this is even becore you include exercises and stuff.

So eating this amount , coming from healthy foods, as well as some exercise, should maintain your weight.

you are supposed to eat calories based off of age weight and height I think.

Their might be a website that tells you.

i think you are meaning BMI this site will help calculate it

http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bminojs....

by putting in you height and weight it will say that your BMI is 17.3 and that this is under weight

healthy range is 18.5 - 24.9 BMI

as for calories you can buy a calorie counter book or hire it from the library

Go to www.MyPyramid.gov and click on My Pyramid Program, answer a few questions and the website will tell you your estimated caloric intake requirements.

Its good that you realise that your calorie intake needs to be less than your expenditure to lose weight as many people dont actually make the connection, even as simple as it seems. Take a free diet and BMI profile and find out exactly how many calories you need to consume and burn to lose the weight in the time frame you want http://www.alfitness.com.au
