Why don't I get sore????!

Question: I did the very last rep I could do yesterday and stayed on the elliptical for those last 5 grueling minutes with 1-18 resistance. I work HARD at the gym. I wake up with no 'pleasant soreness feeling'. I do about 1/2 hour of yoga after my big workout..... it seems odd that I'm really going for it and not getting very sore. Weird. Any thoughts? (I also do a regular yoga practice throughout my week so maybe this makes a difference?)

Hey yogini

Great to hear you are as fit as ever & all I can say is Im feeling very envious.... in a very loving, yogic way of course!

Ive done nothing for 4 weeks & am crawling the walls with frustration. Anyway, all I can say is you must be so fit, so strong & so supple that your body is beyond that 'day after the workout' feeling & thats great. I would also guess from what I know of you, that your yogic diet & also other yogic practices, are also helping sustain your body & keep it from feeling anything painful. I dont need to tell you this because you know it, but its a holistic thing, body, mind & spirit. Ive always known you've got it spot on with your diet & yogic lifestyle, so just keep at it & dont focus your mind on why it doesnt ache the next day, just be joyous that it doesnt. You must be glowing with health.

With much love to you.

2 points thanks !

The more your body gets used to exercise, the easier it gets for you to engage in more intensive exercises later on. I guess this might be the reason. Keep it up! :)

You are so lucky, my legs are killing me lol

Sounds to me you are in great physical shape. I believe the yoga done after your workout has something to do with relaxing tense muscles.

lol sweetie, wish I could say the same. Sadly, currently I am in terrible shape. Hope to start getting more exercise now that spring is arriving in Kentucky.

Have a wonderful day!! :)

It sounds like yogini's body has adapted to her current exercise program. Try switching things up every three to four weeks, this will keep your body guessing, which will most likely allow you to re-experience DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) aka 'pleasant soreness feeling.' For example, you could shorten up the rest periods (by 1/3 to 1/2) between your sets. Or you could go a little heavier to boost the intensity of your workout.

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness is caused by the growth of new sarcomeres, which puts pressure on the nerve endings.

Obviously, you're already in shape, so you don't get DOMS.

You should be happy that you are not getting sore after workout.

Work Hard does not mean Tiring Hard and becoming sore.
further you have taken precaution of balancing the Gym workouts with Yoga which makes the Tense muclses Stretch out and become supple and Relaxed.

You must also be doing Pranayam and meditation also to further digest the Energy gained in Yoga.

I wish you Good Luck for spiritual life
