***Please Answer***Need some advice or suggestions***?!

Question: I am going to try and start running twice a day for 45 min a day. If I do this, will I lose a lot of weight? I am also going to mix in the running with swimming for an hour maybe instead of running some days. I have 4 months to lose 10-15 lbs. Is it possible? Thanks for all of your answers!!!! I am currently deployed to Iraq, so I dont have many resources as far as "healthy" foods. I have some and access to a lot of water.

Well, if you don't alter your diet at all, yes you will lose weight. To lose weight, you need to reduce your caloric intake or burn 500 calories per day. If you are running for 45 minutes - that's about 400+ calories. So yes, this will be effective.
To lose even more weight than just through cardio, it's best to also build muscle mass. Muscles burn calories just by existing. If you can combine 30 minutes even of cardio with some squats, crunches, etc. - you'd be in good shape.
Lastly, remember that it's only healthy to lose about 2 lbs per week. If you are going to be running a lot, your body will get hungry, and you are probably going to need to eat a bit more (maybe a small snack after you work out).
Good luck and have fun!

pls limit food intake and try brisk walking 1st..if ok then gradually you can run instead but pls make sure you dont get your knees sore...best of luck...you can do it..

i agree with the poster above and thank you so much for seving our country! i hope you come home soon

With your running and plenty of great water to drink. Unfortunately I know what you speak of when you talk of not many "healthy" foods over there (MRE's). You can still throw this one in and it should work. When you go to eat your meal. Take a bite, take a drink. Keep repeating that. It fills you up faster. The hardest part, is taking the time and also remembering to do that. Good luck to ya and I hope you reach your goals. My aunt and my mom are doing what I suggested. My aunt in about 3-4 months went from approx. 180 and is now at 139. Feels great with more energy. But keep up the water and stay away from sodas no matter even if they are diet. i found out that they dont help in "dieting". Good luck and take care and be safe over there.
Sincerely,
A soldiers Wife
