Crazy diet idea... can i get some possible detriments/complications?!


Question: okay this is probably completly idiotic but ithought of this new diet (i don't recocommend it to anyone)

so the deal is everyday you get 8 peices of fruit

for example 8 pears
then the next day 8 apples
then the next 8 bananas

since these foods are low in calories
you are pretty much only eating 700-1000calories a day
water only
protiens and other essentail vitamins could be taken through vitamins
and your excersizing 30 minutes each day

what are some possible complications of this diet?

what are some possible complications of this diet?

Couple of problems with this diet is following...
1. Apples and other fruit are easily processed in stomach. So, your stomach will be always empty and you will feel hunger. For healty eating, you should eat 3-4 meals a day, and your stomach will be empty 1h after eating.
2. Fruits have easily processed carbohydrates. So you get all the energy at once. And excess unused energy tends to build fat, for saving it for the bad time. Rice and some other vegies are better for dieting.
3. You will lack a lot of proteins. Yeah, it is possible to get them from suplements, however you will need much of them, and usually they do not come with generic vitamin suplements.
4. You might lack fat from meals. Yeah, sounds weird, but you need small amounts of fat to build hormones and stuff.You can get it from your body fat, but not effectively so.
5. Not all fruits are same on calories :)

Overall, you are better off eating smaller meals of common food that going for extremes.

Well you might need to change your room to the one next to the toilet lol:D

its really hard especially these days to go on with eating just fruits. Your body needs fibre , protein and all the other nutrients to lose weight. Eating fruit just wont do it . Most fruits are high in sugar anyway so eg. eating 8 bananas in a day is just like eating about 5 teaspoons of sugar per banana i personally dont think thats healthy id rather eat normally except take the mars bars away and the fizzy drinks.

fatigue and lethargy but if done for 2-4 days is o.k just try and see!

prolonged, this diet will cause malnutrition...vitamins will not provide you with the lacking nutrients becuase your body can only absorb a VERY small percentage of nutrients from pills.
within the first couple days you feel very tired and may develop anemia from the lack of iron and protein.
after a couple weeks you will most likely have issues with your digestive system including diarrhea, cramping, bloating, and nausea.
if you continue this for a few months you will notice serious health effects from malnutrition such as heart palpatiations, lower bone density, low blood pressure, stop of menstrual cycle, dizziness, fainting, slight hair loss, skin discoloration, brittle nails, numbness in extremeties

Some complications would be that your body wouldn't be getting enough protein or calcium it needs in order to digest and maintain a healthy immune system.
-Although taking supplements would help your body get everything else it needs, supplements are only good short-term like 2-3 days unless there are only a few involved.
Without eating vegetables and carbs your body will have a hard time keeping the vitamins that are supposed to be obtained from whichever fruit you are eating. If this diet goes long term, the person participating in the diet may get very sick and possibly die.

- In theory this would probably work out, but in real life, with all of the things our bodies need just to keep us awake not to mention active and functioning, the average person would drop/fall unconcious in a day or two- people who do things like that are the people we call anorexic. And there is a reason we stray away from poor nutrition or not enough nutrition, and that is one MAJOR reason...

Whats the deal with number 8 ?? Anyways, whatever the reason might be but surely isn't a great plan.

Its not that one cannot be on fruits alone, there are many detox diets in naturopathy that are of fruits alone but there has to be a plan & the right choice of fruits as well. You are right that this will reduce the calorie intake but won't have a lasting effect & also the day you stop eating fruits & get on normal plan, metabolism will deter big time.

You have just decided to be off calories or do you want to loose weight ??
