Little sister a little fat, waht should i do? HELP!!?!


Question: I have a little sister who is a little overweight like she is 121 pounds and is only twelve years old. I am really afraid that what if she hits obesity. Should i put her on Hoodia Gordinii? does it really work? If i do put her on it, where is this cheapest place that i can find it? What are the side effects? will she be eligible to take it? Please someone help

You should love her and tell her that she is beautiful.

Trust me, if she is 12, she knows she is not as skinny as some other girls, and if you try to put her on weight loss drugs or anything, she will remember it for the rest of her life.

The best thing you can do for her is model healthy eating and the importance of working out. A lot of people overeat because they are unhappy, and if she feels like you are critical or unhappy with her, she will be even more unhappy with herself and could develop an eating disorder or start eating even more to console herself.

The fact that she's only 12 means that her body is changing a lot right now and she could slim down a lot or she could stay thicker...perhaps take her for a physical and let the doctor tell her if she needs to lose weight.

(Another note - putting her on weight loss pills right now could really screw up her metabolism since she is still going through puberty. Might not wanna go there...)

why dont you just get her to exercise..

you guys could take walks together or something..or dance. just get her to be active and to make healthier eating choices..if she isnt already.

She is 12 she is in an awkward stage! Not a kid but not a teen! She will eventually level out BUT she also needs healthy excersise and foods! NO SUPPLEMENTS OR PILLS! Get the book be healthy its a girl thing it has healthy eating tips and workouts for girls HER AGE! Hope this helps!

DO NOT GIVE YOUR LITTLE SISTER DIET PILLS! You could cause potentially fatal complications. She should see her pediatrician for advice. Also, you should just encourage her to get outside and play, get some exercise, and don't let her eat junk food. Her food should not be cut drastically, just make sure she is getting fresh vegetables and fruits, lean proteins, and limited carbohydrates. Very very little sweets and no fast food.

121 is not overweight, well maybe if she was 3ft high. i highly doubt it.
Is she concerned about her weight? First ask your parents if they are as concerned as you.

Do NOT put any child on a diet program that consists of pills, etc. At 12, that isnt such a bad weight (maybe shes short?). If you are concerned then work out with her, walk, run, eat right and she will see and follow.

cardio,diet and excersize. cardio get her to run around for 30 minutes or something to get her heartrate up. diet you know, excersize crunches. leglifts, pushups etc.

She doesn't sound over weight to me. Maybe by your standards. Leave her alone as she is only twelve ,she is still growning and by the time she is fourteen or fifteen. Things will even out. But if really want to help instead of trying to give her diet aids. Suggest walking or doing some sports together.

She's at a very impressionable age! Do not put her on diet pills. Giving her pills will encourage her as she get's older to just pop a pill for any reason and could even lead her to using drugs to get a quick fix. If you wanting to help her, work with her and make it fun. Spend time doing physical activities, go for walks, swim or cycle. She's also at the age that her body will start changing. And always have praise for her if she's cooperating with you, soon she'll slim down and she'll feel wonderful too and will like how she looks and hopefully want to keep active. If she knows you have a problem with her weight and are helping her to slim down do reward her with maybe a new outfit or something to motivate her. May I also just tell you that Hoodia comes from Africa and yeah the Hottentot tribe were skinny people but never is it mentioned that these people ran around for about 20km a day chasing buck/deer for food and that is more likely what kept them slim. So no unless someone is going to be very very active while taking Hoodia it's not going to work.
