I did find this interesting because it goes unnoticed so much. First of all, monosodium is a type of salt, so you are correct. I can not remember exactly how to spell this part glutone. It is not the regular gluten. This MSG is found in high doses in Chinese food. It attacks nerves, and paralyzes them, or kills them depending on the amount ingested. This causes major health problems, or it can kill you!

Since, you have a little one; I want to tell you that since they are so small it can be fatal quickly! They removed this from all baby food 20 years ago. I am amazed I am still here?!?!?!?

Mono sodium gleutimate is a flavor enhancer like a type of spice or preservative. Some people are allergic, others get migrane headaches from it. It's used mostly at Chinese restaurants in their rich sauces.

Mono Sodium Glutomate. It's used as a preservative. It's not healthy. I get a reaction to it. My stomach .....let's just say....bothers me.

MSG or mono sodium glutamate is a flavouring agent seen mainly in chinese food...its adds to the taste but studies show that consumption in children less than 5 years of age cause certain mental illnesses, including delayed brain growth...studies in adults have not shown much significant reports...Its marketed in many parts of thw world as ajinomoto...

An additive used to enhance the flavour of foods. Abbreviation for "monosodium glutamate".

There is natural glutamate in certain foods and then there is MSG that is produced. But not even state of the art equiptment can tell the difference.

MSG has been used for over 100 years and has been proved safe for the general population by the FDA. If you eat alot of foods containing MSG it will not make you ill either. But if a food has too much MSG it can actaully make it taste very bad so you wouldn't want to eat it anyways.

Check out the websites I pulled this info from, quit interesting and answers alot of questions.

MSG stands for monosodium glutamate. It is what is known as an excitotoxin because it elicits chemical changes in the brain. Some people are allergic to it and it can cause symptoms associated with a heart attack. Other people just get headaches from consuming it.
It's best to eliminate it completely from your diet, if possible.
