Is it possible to eat approx 2500 calories a day yet keep a varied diet?!

Question: There are so many people saying the average male should eat around 2500 calories a day - but is it actually possible to have a varied diet that meets all the supposed limits of calories, fat, sugar, salt etc etc?

Where can I find ideas of varied diets to help me lose weight without getting bored of the meals within 2 weeks? (Yes, I admit, I am a slightly fussy eater)! :)

You definitely can have a varied diet at 2500 calories a day! You'll need to add lots of fruits and veggies in though to feel like you are eating enough and to get variety in.

Cooking websites like FoodNetwork.com have healthy recipes, and there are LOTS of great cookbooks and cooking magazines out there aimed at light cooking. I like that with magazines I can purchase those that have recipes I know I like. Even Weight Watcher's site has some good free cooking ideas.

Also, I would recommend using a website to calculate your BMR to find out how many calories you actually use in a day, and you can decide from there what is a good calorie amount for you. 2500 might be too low or it could be too high, depending on your age and weight. Here is one site: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calcul...

To be honest though, I very much doubt you'll lose weight eating 2500 calories a day. Prob better to aim for 1500.

There are dozens of fruits and vegetables. They're very low in calories, especially vegetables. Some raw food diet advocates claim it's impossible to overeat on raw food diet, due to the time it takes to chew/digest raw vegetables (you're supposed to chew each mouthful around 30 times, and raw food forces you to chew more)

I eat 1500 calories a day and have lost 4 stone in 6 mths. I eat everything that I want even sweets but I never go over my limit. for example, I even out that each meal should be no more that 500 calories. If I eat less for lunch I top up at dinner. At breakfast I only have shreddies so I save myself 300 calories. when you have lost the weight you should aim for 2000 for women and 2500 for men to maintain a steady weight.
