How do you motivate a person to excersize?!

Question: my mom is obese. I'm sure that she could easily loose about 100 pounds by making SIMPLE changes. but she has no ambition to do it, and when i try to motivate her (by saying "hey mom, have you gone on the bow flex today?" or "how about you take the dogs for a walk?") but she just gets mad and tells me what a horrible spirit i have or makes fun of me.

a day in the life of my mother:
go to work at 7:00 am
sit in office all day and work
come home and usually get on the computer to play games on yahoo, watch tv, and sit in her big leather chair at the same time
lay in bed for 2 hours (watching TV, occasionally go on her laptop at the same time)
go to sleep

of course she does other things too, but that's just generally what she does. notice it doesn't include exercise...it never has since she was in high school (in high school, she was beautiful and thin)

how do i, or maybe if I'm not the right person to do it, how does someone motivate my mother to get some exercise?

hmm..thats a hard one..u dont wanna make ure mom feel like crap, but u want her to be healthy..y dont u say, ma, im going ona diet...join me?..that may help?..

You could take her to a clinic and get her blood pressure checked out and ask the doctor if he could educate her on not excercising. You could also tell her that when shes in her office she could stop snacking on foods (if she does snack, it usually happens at work) and eat some carrots or something healthy and then take her to a Nutritionist and tell them to give your mom a good diet.

You can help someone by joining them in exercises. She may not exercise now, but show, tell, and promise her that you will exercise with her whether you need to or not. The both of you can go on a diet plan together. Try talking with her and tell her that you are concerned about her health and you want to help her.

Keep a lot of ready to eat fresh vegetables and fresh fruits in the house. If you can get her to eat enough vegetables and fruits she will begin to lose weight and her energy will go up.
*
Try to get her to go out for a picnic every weekend. Go to a park where there are a lot of active people doing fun things.
*
The first goal is to take a 30 minute walk together every other day. Maybe you can beg her.
*
The other form of exercise that is very healthy is ballroom dancing, so there might be another starting point.
*
It can take up to two years to institute lifestyle changes. It can take at least three weeks for the body chemistry to change from energy-storing to energy-burning.
*
The bottom line is that it is very hard to motivate someone to invest a lot of time in something they do not enjoy or are not interested in. mmm.. doesn't she want to get laid ?
