i'll tell you frmo experience, do them slow, and deliberate, feel every movement, hold them down that sort of thing, out of nowhere, you'll go to bang out a bunch and do an incredible amount.

Do as many as you can every day. A friend of mine did that for a month and wrote down what he did every day. The first day he did 30 but after 1 month he could do over 100.

You need to start a serious upper body workout, pronto! Focus on exercises that strengthen your pecs, trapezius and shoulders. Check out the workout videos in the link. Good luck at boot camp!

Keep doing them even when you can do no more. It is your mind that is stopping you. Your body will do as it is told by your mind. Train your mind to never give in.

Hey great question,
You may want to try different versions of push ups and give yourself about 1-3 minutes rest between each set of 10-15. One version that is less strenuous is the wall push up. This will most likely increase the amount you can do at least by 20 more. Here's how to do a wall push-up:
Stand a few feet away from a wall with your feet placed about as wide as your hips. Keep your back straight and tighten your abdominals and pull them inward toward your spine. With your palms flat and placed slightly wider than your shoulders, bend your elbows and lean into the wall till your upper arms are parallel to the wall.

Press yourself away from the wall by straightening your arms. Do eight to 15 repetitions, rest and then do another one to three sets. When you can do three sets easily, give the cheater version a try, and when you can do three sets of those easily, give the full-out military version a try.

All versions of push-ups strengthen your chest muscles, your shoulders and your triceps, the muscles located in the back of your upper arms. If you keep your abdominals strong and tight as you do push-ups, they can actually help strengthen and develop these muscles as well. Best wishes in your success.

Sye

STOP TRYING TO DO THEM FAST.
technique is what really matters in exercise. so start by doing 20 REALLY good push-ups everyday. your arms will eventually get stronger and you will be able to do many more alot faster with more muscle tissue built up.
