Having a BMI of 19.5 is that under weight??!

Question: or ok?

Answers: or ok?

It all depends on age, because when you're younger it is common to gain weight during puberty. However, after puberty, your BMI normally stabilizes, and typically, BMI's less than 18.5 are considered underweight.

Do not depend fully on BMI because it is general; it is merely a ratio of height to weight. It does not take into account body type or athleticism of the person. As muscle weighs more than fat, a very athletic person might have a high BMI but be completely healthy.

depends how tall you are

Its pretty much average...

Not bad. I was BMI 19 and I had a chubby belly and arms. Then I grew, dont have it so much anymore, and my BMI is 22. How things change?

It depends on your height. You can figure it out for yourself here: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

it isnt quite average. it is almost underweight. 21 would be much healthier.

No its fine x

Depends on your age and sex, not your height. The BMI is calculated by height. If you are a teenage girl (I suspect you are) you probably are thin and have the figure most girls would kill for. Don't sweat it baby.

18.5 to 25 is normal.

So that is the low end of normal, but still normal.

almost..
anything under 18 is considered under weight

An Average BMI(Body Mass Index) is from 18.5-24.9
19.5 is average It is however recommended to stay within 20-25

Most BMI charts consider below 18,5 or below 19 as underweight. It is however recommended to stay within 20-25 (you can also be healthy and have a higher BMI, depending on muscles, fat percent and bone structure). Young people who is developing (usually below the age of 15 for girls and below 16-17 for boys), usually have a lower BMI than adults, and therefore there are made BMI calculators specific for children.

If you eat when you're hungry and don't have a wish to get thinner, that BMI will most likely not hurt you, though it could be smart to gain some pounds to be on the safe side in case you lose weight during flu or other diseases.

No, although it is not the only measure of correct body status, normal is above 18.5, so on the basis of BMI alone this is normal.

maybe a little. Take a free diet profile and find out what your healthy BMI is at http://www.alfitness.com.au

for your height its actually underweight.
