Well if you want to loose healty weight it is best to loose about 3lbs a week OR LESS. If you lose more your more likelty to have saggy skin, and make sure you exercise.

I think over a period of four or five months should be healthy, If you are dropping three pounds or more a week then that is definitely not going to end well.

well if you are fit but just have excess body fat then you could potentially safely loose about half of that in one day. but that would be extremely difficult. so if your a normal person probably about 3 pounds a week

The problem with losing too much fat too fast is your body has a mechanism that senses food deprivation and shortly after a quick weight loss cravings will result. It is nearly impossible to lose weight quickly and not putting it back on shortly thereafter. Best way to go is a few pounds per week and nothing more. So a steady exercise and small calorie cut back is most effective for permanent weight loss.

It also means that once you reach your target weight you don't need to alter your eating patterns - crash diets always mean you'll put the weight on as soon as the diet is finished.
