Have you ever heard of someone getting constipated from a high-fiber diet?!

Question: I've been eating a lot of fiber recently (and I don't normally eat a lot) and I've been experiencing constipation but no diarrhea. I'm trying to "clean out my system" and I've stayed home from school the past two days because of this.

Yes this does happen with too much fibre. I reccommend pure Prune juice, apricots, and banana's (not to many bananas, two a day, because to much will constipate you again). Also, drink a lot of water as it helps "flush out the system".

no lol

try this herbal tea stuff thats really good im not sure what its called tho or where u can get it

Absolutely!
if you eat high fibre you need to increase your water intake, as fibre absorbs water and needs lots to pass through your intestines.
I get really contipated eating too much fibre. Drink heaps of water! it will help
And if i was you I would take a laxative too!

I think it depends on the type of fibre. I think it's only insoluble fibre that'll really help you clean out your system, because it's not really digestible. So that's plant materials, lettuce and stuff. Soluble fibre is more digestible (think beans) and I don't know if that helps clean out your system at all. I doubt it would cause constipation though. Either way, focus on the veggies and greens when you're trying to eat fibre.

Yes. That is to be expected.

Fiber will bind ya up for sure.

Fiber works like a sponge in your colon and when you eat a lot of it ,it soaks up all the fluids making you constipated. You need to drink a lot more fluids especially when eating a high fiber diet and the constipation will go away.

Sometime stress can cause constipation, too. Besides just eating high-fiber food you should also involve in exercises such as long distance walk, running, or even get on the eliptical (arc trainer) machine for 30 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week. Exercise can also destress you. I hope this will work for you, goodluck.

Yeah, I've heard of it. It can happen if you have too much fiber and not enough water. Drink more water.

My sister is famous for being constipated on food other folks that would get the ruins. Stress is a factor with her. Eating the same routine of food daily. Metamucil every morning.

absolutely! your system gets kinda blocked with the sudden increase in fiber. drink water, maybe go to the chemist and see if you can get a very low dose laxative (like movical) if things arent moving.

i found everytime i increased it suddenly (a heap of fruit say) everything stopped. you need to do it slowly.
