I purchased a pedometer for my mom this year and hers tells you the steps and miles.
I also know that the Nike Ipod attachment for their SHOX shoes tells you that info too.

The pedometer I have calculates the miles based on steps. It even had a crude way of estimating the distance based on your stride. That may be what you have already.

You can get a pedometer that will calculate that for you but easier than that is to measure a few of your steps to get an accurate # then multiply that distance by the # of steps you've taken and waallaaahhh you have your distance in feet. Convert that to miles and you've done the same thing with out a new purchase.

P.S. I use a sony walkman w580i and it does that for me.

The AXIS pedometer is perfect.

nike is actually coming out with a smart-watch that is used in conjuncture with certain nike shoes that tell you all sorts of data. You could also try and guestimate the distance of your stride I'd say probably somewhere in the 14-20 inch range multiply that by the # of steps and divide the # of feet by 5280 and that will give you the amount of miles. Garmin also makes a watch that tracks distance.
