actually I have my diet book right next to me, and according to the book 144 lbs for a 5'4" person is just about on the line between healthy and overweight, with a BMI of about 24.5

So NO, you are not ugly or obese. I happen to be 5'4" and last summer I was 144 and not I'm about 136 and I didn't look fat then and I don't now.

do Jari Love's Get Ripped 1000 video it kicks your *** but it's one whole hour of nonstop calorie burning action and cardio you'll burn about 800 if you have an aerobic step.

If you want to lose weight, I'd say 130 is a reasonable goal. so like -14 lbs.

and as for food, I like to eat too so I know how it is.

Good Luck!

your not obese but you overweight. i recommend losing about 24 pounds and then you will be perfect! just exercise more and limit your calorie intake. don't go on any fancy diets - the "diet" that works best is simple - burn more calories then you take in and you will lose weight!

You are NOT obsese. BUT, you can lose about 10-15 pounds. To do this, you should eat 1500 calories a day, and exercise about 5X a week for atleast an hour. Cut out sugary drinks, and drink lots of water. Eat lots of frutis and veggies, and eat everything in healthy moderation. Only weigh yourself 1 time a week, or you may get discouraged (I have). Try losing at 1-2 pounds a week. Good luck!

You aren't fat! You are a tiny bit overweight which isn't being fat at all, don't kill yourself.
Just stop drinking soda, even if it's hard, I did it, you can too. Don't eat fast food ... a hamburger can have 1,000 calories.
Start doing small exercises and increase them, don't run 1 mile the first day...you'll get tired.
Good luck! I'm trying to lose some weight too :)

Ok..
1. You don't way too much
2. If you lose ANY weight...no more than 15 lbs
3. Eat small portions many time a day (5-6) it'll keep your metabolism fast so you burn calories quickly.

Hope it helps ; )

I calculated your BMI at the above website and it is 24.7.
These are the BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both men and women.

So, if you would like to slim down then you should team a healthy diet and exercise.
A healthy diet consists of lean read meats, chicken and fish and well as plenty of freah veggies and fruit. To keep the food "healthy" you should only bake or steam chicken and fish and cook all lean read meats in a non stick pan with no oil. Steam all veggies as this helps keep their nutrients in. You should only eat brown rice and brown/grainy breads. Remeber to drink at least 2L of water per day.
You should also aim to do 30mins of vigorous exercise each day. You have to raise a sweat to lose weight. If you would like to tone up and get slim then exercises like cycling, yoga, pilates and running would be great.

Alot of people find it helps to make a diary. You can record what you've eaten, the amount of calories in the food, what exercise you do and how many calories you've burned.

Burn more calories than you consume, if you have to eat, eat stuff like celery (no dressing) that burns more calories to digest than it has in it. Stay active and drink lots of water, good luck!

Hun you are NOT fat! You're fine.

If loosing weight will make you happy then try a low carb diet, only eating WHOLE WHEAT bread, pastas and rices.

Eat lots of greens and try to limit the amount of dressing/sauces you use. If you relly want to use dressings use low fat ones and stick with vinigarettes, not creamy dressings.

Also try not to eat too much sugar.

That plus some regular exercising [like jogging] should help you loose weight but everyone is different so it may not work for you.

Good luck but please don't go overboard with it!

dude, your perfectly fine! i am 5'8 and 170 I'm a lil big, but being CURVACEOUS is nothing to be ashamed about. start running daily, and eat under 1500 calories a day, that's what I'm doing and it works good, but like barely and sugar, and watch your salt. if it tires you to run alot, just jog or walk really fast!!

i just finished this diet called the "sacred heart diet" you are supposed to lose 10-17 pounds in 7 days. i did it and lost 15 pounds! i feel so great and have so much energy! it takes a lot of willpower but if you think you can do it, you should really try it!

if you google sacred heart diet, it is the first thing on there!

good luck!

First, stop being so self-conscious. You're 16 years old, for crying out loud!!! Just be yourself, first of all. There's nothing wrong with you liking eating, you just need to learn to like to eat healthier food. Start by snacking on healthier foods like baby carrots and celery with tuna salad in them, dry unsalted almonds, and yogurt. String cheese is a good snack too, but in moderation, just like everything else. Portion control is important. Drink lots of water, and cut out the sodas and other junk food. I wouldn't say you need to lose any weight, but if you just follow those things, you will lose some weight. As far as working out, just change your habits a little bit. Ride your bike or walk places as opposed to taking a car. Play some basketball with your friends. Go swimming since the summer is coming. There are many things that you can do to lose weight. There is no "quick fix" for losing weight. You need to dedicate yourself to a routine and stick with it. Good luck.

I would say your just fine. I am 5'5 and 140. What you need to do is just eat right and work out a little. You are young stop worrying about your weight You are not obese. You don't want to just burn calories. you want to burn Carbs. So stay away from pasta or any kind of grain. If you must eat bread. Eat whole wheat. Eat chicken and fish and veggies .Stuff with high protein. takes time to loose weight. But you want to be healthy. I use to be 155 but I got down to 140 by just eating right and working out. Walk, do cardio, situps, etc. Good luck.

Hi. 90% of weight loss is from nutrition, so don't even think about eating what you eat today and adding some exercises.

Cool down. Get control of yourself. Decide to change and make it happen!

Look up the abs diet eat 3 meals and 3 snacks per day. You must make good choices tho. If you follow this you will be in perfect shape in less than 3 months.

No, you arent 'obese' but the BMI calculator does say you are overweight. (http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/) It is something that you should take care of and I am happy to hear that you care. Your first step would probably go on a diet. Eat healthy/organic foods only when you are hungry and at meals. Eat small porportions, too. Then start going to a gym or exercising at home. You can even walk the pounds away or jog or jumprope or anything active. You should go to your doctor, ask him/her what the healthy weight for a 16 year old is, and then ask him/her how much you should loose and how you can loose the extra weight.

Good luck to you:D<33!

i would say 135 sounds good? i used to weigh 180 last spring and i decided i wanted to lose the weight so i started working out and now i weigh around 120... cardio definitely burns the most fat and calories cardio is basically anything that gets ur heart rate up and pumping so running is a good cardio but remember to start out slow and work ur way up slowly so u dont get sick, and also if u have the little "pouch" on ur belly that i used to have i do crunches and now its almost completly gone! also curls are a great way to lose the "flab" under the arm but remeber to go slow dont push ur self when u first start out and if u really need help y not ask ur parents? i asked my dad he really helped he used to be a personal trainer..and i know i have seen i can make you thin and stoping and closing ur eyes when ur eating and clearing ur mind like he says just makes me more hungry lol.. hope this helps...oh and good luck!
