Excercising, Eating Better (on WW) & I GAINED weight - how? what can i do?!

Question: I'm on weight watchers. I started excercising 2 weeks ago. I did a really good job last week and I ended up GAINING!
Someone said that on the days I excercised, maybe I didn't eat enough.
I was just so darned depressed last night after I got weighed in. It wouldn't have been as bad if I had just stayed the same, but to gain is so awfully depressing. It made me feel like giving up.
I'm having a hard time staying on track today, but I'm trying. I'll go to the gym tonight, even though I'd rather not.

Any idea why I could eat right, excercise, and gain? Any ideas how to combat this and ensure I get the scale going down, as I really want?

So, the best thing for you to do is eat as regularly and as healthy as you can, also try to exercise as regularly as you can too. Burn as many calories as you eat don't eat too many or too little. Just try to keep trak of how many you burn and eat the right amount. It's normal and don't give up, your'e doing a good job by trying to be healthy! also rememeber there is other factors that go into your weight, it's not just fat! it's things like muscle and water too. A human skeleton wighs 7 pounds so try not to worry and keep up the good work!!

Don't get discouraged!!!

If you are gaining weight, that means you are most likely gaining muscle! Which is GOOD.

Muscle will help burn away fat and calories more efficiently and quickly! It just takes time-
Good luck!

There could be two reasons why your 'gaining'
1. Time of the month = before periods your body can store up to 5lb of waterweight
2.Muscle = muscle may gain you weight but each muscle is toned and burns 50 calories .but you will be toned and noone will notice.

My wife was on WW and gained weight, so you are not alone. It depends on what type of exercise you are doing? Did you eat enough on the days you exercised? Are you getting enough sleep, or drinking enough water? These are all variables that can have an effect on weight loss. Odds are though you lowered your body fat % and that is what is important.

Whatever you do don't quit!

I gained weight on WW too, so I quit...I couldn't stand that even though I was sticking to my points, I was still adding pounds week after week. I switched to Suzanne Summers diet, and occasionally do the Atkins 2 week plan to get back on track.

Check out the Summersizing plan, you might like it better, as I found it was easier to stick to. Also, even though some things in WW will fit into your point plan, they still aren't healthy to eat, and will cause you to gain weight-ie=the sweets, low point sodas, etc. Try cutting out anything that would generally not be on another diet plan.

likely muscle gain...a good thing in the long run...
try not to weigh, it can be a mind trap and cause you to blow your routine

Don't give up! You could be gaining muscle. Make sure to concentrate more on cardio and aerobic workouts, when you are running, your body will naturally lose weight, because it will realize that it's easier to move around with less weight.

Also, don't concentrate so much on weight. If it's muscle, you might see yourself putting on a gain every couple of weigh-ins, but if your figure is getting better, then you are on track.

If you are truly following your diet and exercising then the weight gain is your body adding muscle: You should be happy. Adding muscle helps you burn more calories. Like feeding a fire. The other issue may be your metabolism regulating itself. You may have gotten off track trying other diets and methods of weight loss and now your body is getting the correct calories, nutrients, minerals etc. so it will take a bit to get back to "normal". Don't' worry about this at all. It's pretty natural and VERY common. Another two weeks and you'll start seeing better results.
