It sounds like you already are preparing to stop the things that are destroying you, poor diet and smoking.

First, it usually takes seven times for a person to 'rehears' quitting before they can successfully quit smoking.

Second, eating fiber rich foods that cover all of your nutritional needs (nutrient dense foods) will be best for your recovery and help you rebuild yourself.

Most people want to exercise the same time everyday, and that time is usually right when they start the day.

If that is your plan, eat something before you exercise, but don't eat something high-fiber. Eat a banana. After you exercise then you can eat oatmeal or something high fiber. The reason you want to wait until after you exercise to eat the high fiber portion of your breakfast is because if you eat fiber before exercise it will draw the moisture to your stomach, and you will need that water for you body.

Eating one half of a banana will give you enough energy to aerobically exercise for a half hour!

Drink plenty of water. Water will help your body in many ways and is what every athlete needs. Drinking water will also help move that creatine through your muscles this will aid your performance and in the long run build your muscels and endurance.

Happy running!

Your staple should be: chicken breast, brown rice, and a green like spinach, broccoli, or asparagus. That is simple and has all the right stuff for energy, rebuilding/growing muscle, and burning off fat.

Eat a lot of fruit, for GOOD carbs to provide energy fuel to run.
But you need to quit the nic-addict routine. You may kill yourself even more quickly by running, if you have health problems caused by smoking that would make you unable to handle the physical demands of running. I've even seen some smoking while running. Not only does it look crazy, but it causes a hyper-dose of nic to be pumped into your bloodstream. Cardiac arrest or a stroke may await you if you don't quit before getting into a running program.
