Am I considered bulimic?!

Question: I eat normally, for example a banana and a small glass of orange juice for breakfast, for lunch a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on wheat bread with an apple or some sort of fruit and a vitamin water. For dinner I eat whatever my family has prepared and if I feel like I ate too much I go and make myself vomit. It's not everyday I do this, just when I feel like I ate too much. I exercise everyday for lacrosse practice and run miles over the weekend. I am 120lb. and 5 foot 4 inches. My size pants are fours and my friend thinks I'm going bulimic. Help? Advice? Person thoughts/opinions.

Please get some help. My younger sister has just been diagnosed with Bulimia and Anorexia- yep, both! She is really sick, and it has got to the point where it is going to take a long time before she gets better.

She started out like you, knowingly doing these things. Now it's just what she does- it's a habit, and her way of life. So my advice to you? Stop it now while you are aware of what you are doing, and while you can. Because keep it up and you won't be able to stop, will become obsessed with it, and it will start messing with you mind.

And it's no big deal if you eat too much sometimes. We all do. Instead of throwing up go for a walk to help your dinner digest. Or drink some Green Tea after dinner to get your body going a bit faster to help digest.

But please stop what you're doing. I'm witnessing this all first hand and it is NOT worth what it does to your family, friends, and most importantly - yourself.

Why in the world do you throw up if you eat too much? yea i think that youre going bulimic. it starts up as throwing up sometimes and then it goes into a full-blown disease.

Yes, you are bulimic. If you purge food after a binge(a.k.a. after you think you've eaten too much) that is what bulimia nervosa is. You need to talk to a specialist that can help you. This could get worse and you may need to be rehabilitated if you continue this. Please call the AWARE hotline if you don't want to tell your parents right away. 314-588-1683. This is serious. If you don't get help now, it could take up to 10 YEARS to become completely cured of an eating disorder, that is, if you ever get cured. I'm sorry to hear you are unwell, but I wish you the best of luck. Good Luck! You will be fine if you get some help.

you should really talk to a doctor about this.....you are on the path to having serious problems

your 5"4 and 120 lb. ...your thin.
vomit ting is not the solution unless its the natural way for the body to release a toxin. stick with the daily exercise and stay healthy and fit.
You might want to find out your bmi. and how much calories you take. you should at least be taking 1500-1900 calories to stay healthy and have energy for your daily routine.
love your body and respect it ,
good luck *)

Feel like you ate too much? That's an odd sort of statement. Purging, that's what yer describing, and it is a behaviour that is associated with bulimia, yes. I am not a specialist, but I've read, and had dealing with people who do have various eating disorders. It sounds like you have a healthy lifestyle otherwise.
I would recommend talking to a cousellor at school, or some other adult that you trust. Please understand, I'm not saying you are or are not bulimic, but I would follow through with talking to someone who knows better about it than me. They can address your concerns more directly than I can here.
Good luck. <big zen hug here ;-) >

Yes. It annoy's me so much that magazines still keep printing images of underweight people and manage to glamorize it. I'm 19, male and was anorexic and bulimic when i was 15. I went down from 19st to under 6st. It was hard but wanted to fit in with a toned six pack body and when i still didn't achieve that, i starved myself even more. It was if a huge bubble was trapped in my head filled with thoughts of food and was horrible. I'm 5'7 and now weigh just over 12 stone. Through my mums help, she managed to help me regain who i was (now that's what you call a good mum). Love her so much. I now have a gf, friends and more of a life. Be happy with who u r and if u feel like you've over ate one day, the sensible thing wud be 2 cut sumfing out the next day (like a chocolate) instead of making yourself sick. Take this advice from an expert.
