Is it ok to suck on boiled sweets during the day when on a diet?!

Question: If I'm sucking on boiled sweets to stop me craving bad stuff while on a diet, is this ok? It's only about 3 a day - obviously I know they have sugar in them, it's more the fat content I'm thinking about. Thanks

One boiled sweet = 34 calories (average)
3 x 34 = 102 calories

Diet is not about fat. It is about calories in = less than calories out. To do that healthily, you should eat low fat.

So you are better off having no boiled sweets at all and having some fruit even a stick of sugar free chewing gum to deal with your sweet craving.

BUT if 3 sweets a day works for you AND it means you find it easier to cope with eating lettuce all day and keeps you away from the cream cakes, then carry on but you need to allow for your 101 calories in your diet.

It is really empty calories and you would be much better off looking for an alternative for you that helps your cravings. Dried fruit, fresh fruit or low sugar chewing gum are my suggestions.

No point going on a diet if you plan to suck down endless amounts of sugar. Calories from fat and calories from sugar are all pretty much the same to the body. If there is enough fuel for needs, your weight stays the same. If there's not enough you lose, and if there is too much, you gain. And that's not even going into what it will do to your teeth, having them bathed in sugary spit all day. It's not the fat, it's not the carbs- it's the total calorie count that matters on a diet.
